What do you call "stew" where you live

People all have their own ingredients they add to make a perfect stew, I make mine with diced carrots, turnips, parsnips, leeks, onions, potatoes and stewing beef and I always make it the day before we eat it because it just improves the flavour when it's left for 24 hours. In my part of the world we call it "Lobby" and I always make dumplings because my son won't eat it without them, says it's not the same without dumplings and I agree it isn't. so what do you call it in your part of the world ?

i make what you make sort of, but for us it is more of a stir fry. we dont have a lot of gravy but have meat and lots of veggies and serve it over rice for a meal.

stew is to me floured beef, the brown it, stir real well & add potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, english peas, a little tomatoes & seaconings.let that cook real slow till everything is done. sometimes i had a little thickening.love it!
