oh my goodness!!! good he was still in the right lane when he opened his eyes. I was so nervous thinking about it when he told me he falls asleep. Good it doesn't happen in a busy highway. I know how crazy some drivers are in the highway. Just yesterday, when we were in the interstate, a crazy driver just overtake as passing two lanes in front of us without giving signal.. he just zoom.. in front of us. I was so upset thinking of that incident. I then, realize what if that happens when hubby is asleep driving?
Those of you who are driving, did you experience the same thing, falling asleep while driving? I don;t like to think about it but I know it happens to some.

I nodded off once while dragging a U-Haul, it scared me and even though we were just 10 minutes from our destination (my brain must have transported me there) I still did my best to stay awake. I never told my wife because she was snoozing, since then if I need sleep I'll tell my wife.

Well, good you did not tell her..
my hubby used to tell me when he is home that he fall asleep while driving. This happens not only once but several times already. When I am with him I keep on checking if he is awake.. because we don't usually talk when he drives.

I don't normally fall asleep driving, but it happened to me once. I used to work the night shift from 10:30pm to 7am in the morning. Sometimes it was hard to sleep during the day, so I wouldn't get that much sleep. Well one morning as I was driving home from work I fell asleep. My cousin worked the same place I did, and we traded rides everyday, well just before that, she asked me if I was alright, I told her I was. Then just like that, it seems like I woke up, and we were off the road and hit a reflector, it went flying over the car, I didn't know what was going on, I guess eventually I stopped the car. I don't know how on earth we kept from falling in this culvert on the side of road, we were parked right over it..lol. Well needless to say, I got a ticket for driving in an unsafe manner, and for running over that reflector, a 150.00 ticket...thankfully it didn't go on my driving record. Thats the only time I've fallen asleep.

Hi Bebs,
ohhh..he must be very tired and great thing that he arrive safe! I guess it happens to my hubby also, I will ask later...LOL!
ANyway, my Father is a driver and he was driving before to a family who has 2 teenagers that time, back when I was in High School and every time these 2 teenagers will arrived from USA, he has so much to do, he will drive them everywhere they want to go and he will wait until they are ready to go home, the most 1 or 2 am! SO, in that situation, he learned to drink very dark coffee to keep himself awake! Anyway, I am not driving yet wish I will never experienced that or I will be in trouble! hahahah!

Hi Che,
I am not driving either, that is why now I am practicing to be awake while in the car because I might be in the same situation if I would be driving.. Maybe just a nod.. or maybe he just close his eyes in a few seconds..
Not so long maybe just seconds.. but seconds can be very dangerous on the road.

Oh that would be so risky Bebs. It will cause your life so better not drive if you are sleepy. So it also happened to your hubby? Oh... it's good nothing bad happened. Be very carefu please. During long travel, I make it a point to check on my husband to see if he is awake. I also do not sleep and would patiently talk to him to keep him awake during long travels. I'v seen so many accidents that happen because of sleeping driver, so I always make sure that would not happen to us.

Hi my friend,
Good that I am not driving yet because I am all the time sleeping while in the car. Well, my hubby was alone when he fall asleep. He is going to work at that time. He just told me when he arrived home. Even when we were together i can not stay awake all the time also. Sometimes I have to bring something to do while in the car to keep me awake. My hubby do not want much talking while driving but, when I am with him I have to check whether he is closing his eyes or not.. and that when I am awake also..
Yes, very scary thing to fall asleep while on the road.

I have gotten drowsy while driving before but never fell asleep. My husband was driving back from our family camping trip last month and started getting sleepy. He never does this so I was worried. I started asking him if he wanted me to drive. He said no, just start nagging me, I'll get upset and that will wake me up. So I did; told him to watch the road, don't follow so close, don't speed, etc. We laughed but it really didn't help. He finally pulled over and I drove the rest of the way home. It wasn't worth risking our family he figured. As soon as I buckled my seat belt and put the van in drive, I looked over and he was OUT!!!

that is funny!! he wants yo to nag him so that eh will be upset and be awake??
Well, I'm with my hubby, I will just pinch him so that he couldn't sleep when he starts to be drowsy. But most often he is alone when he goes to work. That's what I am worried about.
