How do I stop stuff sinking...

Whenever I bake a cake with stuff in (choc chips usually) they always just sink to the bottom of the cake... How do I get them to stay IN the cake, and not in a burnt layer at the bottom of it?

Try dusting the choco chips in flour before adding them to the batter. Also add them at the end and do not stir. Also see that your baking dish is layered with butter paper. This will avoid burning at the bottom to some extent.

thanks. I tried the flour thing, but I stirred them in. I shall try again tomorrow, and pick up some paper after I finished work :)

Another trick that may work is to add them 5-10 minutes after you put the cake in the oven, that way the bottom has some time to firm up and they won't sink as deep. Good luck!
