lost pictures

Have you ever lost any of your pictures? My dad had our family pictures after my mom passed away and they all burned in a fire. You can imagine how devastating that was. Now recently I had all my digital pictures on our computer for this year. January to June. I have 4 small children, 6, 4 1/2, 2 1/2, and 17 months. Well I was putting the pictures onto disc and right after the discs were done the laptop crashed. I was so happy to know that I had gotten the pictures off in time. Now we have a new laptop and I put in the first disc, Jan-May, and to my utter devastation it said the disc was empty, it didn't work! I do have Junes pictures on another disc that did work. I was so crushed especially concerning the babies pictures. I however have a photo cd for each of my kids and update them every six months and had updated my two youngest kids cds up to April so I have not lost all their pictures for this year. Losing pictures to me is a bit like losing a part of our life. Do you have any devastating stories of loss of pictures?

All of my baby pictures are gone.It makes me mad when I think about it because someone stole them.My grandma had a safe in her bedroom and she had all her jewelery that she was going to pass down to us(me my brother and sister) and all of the familys pictures and when she passed away the safe disapeared.This happened in mexico about 5 years ago and I know that I will never be able to see my families pictures again I literaly only have pictures from the age of 8 and up.I feel bad for my sister because she wanted to show pictures of grandma to her kids.
