Lavender in your food.Yes, you heard me correctly: Lavender in your food. I posted a response in a discussion today that wanted to know about the benefits of Lavender. I believe they were only looking to use Lavender to help ease the mood of stress. Did you know though, that you can put it into food and get great results? Add it to ice cream as a mix-in. Add it to stews to help provide breathing relief when sick with a cold. (You can add even more to help that). Add it to white cakes for flavor and get the benefits of it. I do this; and love the health benefits. Do you add it to your food? Have you considered that? Tell us about that.

Lavender tea is very calming and sooths the stomach. Lavender can be used for a good nights sleep. I have added it to rice to give it a delicate flavor. Some say not to take the essential oil internally. I use the flower buds only for cooking.

Yes, that's correct in that you should only use the herb internally. The essential oil is for other things. But, you can actually make your own essential oil from the herb.

It would take a lot of lavender to make essential oils. I don't think I will try it even though it could be simple. Do you or have you made any?

I never heard of putting lavendar in food. I didn't know it was possible to eat it. What would you use lavendar sugar for? What would it make the white cake taste like? I will have to ask a friend of mine who is a real natural foods person if she knew this.

amazing..This is the first time I'm hearing about adding lavender in cooking. I never knew Lavender can be added in food products. Then I browsed to know more about this. Yes, it seems that adding Lavender to food products is very common..There are many ways to use Lavender in cooking. Lavender is part of the mint family and is closely related to thyme, fennel and sage. You can substitute lavender in place of spices like marjoram and thyme in savory meat dishes. Desserts can be sweetened with lavender sugar. Also lavender is a very strong flavored herb. So very little lavender will serve the purpose while cooking.I would try to add lavender in my cooking in the future..
