My baby doesn't sleep anymore

We are having trouble getting our baby to sleep. He is 4 months and he will sleep 6-8 hours like 1 to 2 times a month. But it seems like he is uncomfertable or something because he tries really hard to sleep the 6-8 hours but never gets to. He has been waking up like 2-3 hours more regular than any other times. Our doctor told us he has the acid reflux and he has been taking Previcid which seems to be working for that. We give him gripe water here and there but it doesn't seem to help with the sleeping, meaning it helps a bit with the gas and stuff but that doesn't seem to be the problem most of the time. We are just confused (which we knew we would be most of the time) but we feel like there is something that we should be able to do to help him. I also know he needs to be on a schedule and we do a really good job of that, when we can control it, which is most of the time. Please help us for our sanity and mostly for our baby.

My youngest daughter had acid reflux and she was put on Previcid but still had problems sleeping as well and we ended up seeing a specialist to find out what was wrong . What he told us was that when you hae acid reflux and you lay down that it makes it a lot worse so he suggested we have our daughter sleep in her crib in her car seat . I know it sounds very uncomfortable but it did work . As long as she was propped up some she was able to sleep without the discomfort . I was also told she would outgrow this and am glad to say she did outgrow the problem when she was just over six or seven months . It can last for the first year but in most cases won't las that long .

I have heard of my wife's brother sleeping in his car seat in his crib, but that was just because they said that he would only sleep in it so they would do that. I think we will have to try doing this because he does seem to sleep well in the car seat. Thank you!!!

Do you mean to say that he sleeps 6-8 hours 1-2 times a month and at other times, he sleeps less? I'm quite confused. I would suggest you go visit another doctor to get a second opinion and see if there is anything else with your baby other than the reflux problem. My daughter is 20 months and she takes a nap in the afternoon and still sleep about 9-10 hours at night. sleep is important for the growth hormones to work too. So babies do need a lot of sleep. But at 4 months he may not need as much as a newborn. Maybe you could play with him during his waking hours to get him to be a little tired, so he can sleep. Whatever it is, don't give up! All the best!

Yes I do mean that he only sleeps like 2-3 hours when it isn't the 6-8. He will take like 2 or 3 naps in the day, but also most of the time he doesn't nap long. When he is awake we play with him like with his piano, and some letters he has, we will play airplane and just wiggling and laughing, so he ends up pretty warn out, but then still only sleeps in short sperts and he still is awnry.
