is your house the uncluttered type?

or do you prefer to have a lot of things stuffed inside it? the house i grew up in has a lot, and i do mean, a lot of things accumulated over the years. yes, we were guilty of keeping our grade school books for reference purposes, super back issues of magazines, artworks and other odds and ends. so i guess we are a family of pack rats. but now, i prefer what you might say, a minimalistic house. a lot of room to move in, to breathe and less time to finish cleaning the whole house
how about your house?

ohh.. he's bad, bad, bad!
my grandma was a pack rat too, but not as bad as your son. hee hee. when she learns that we are doing general cleaning in our house, she would wait for us to take out the dry garbage and sift through it, find if anything is worth saving. and yes, she keeps used barbeque sticks
i dunno what she plans to use them for.

I prefer an uncluttered house too. My house does not have much furniture. But there is one room which is a little cluttered I must say, it's the reading room. It has tonnes of books belonging to my hubby and I. It also has more than 20 electric guitars (my hubby's), amplifiers and accessories. I'm thinking of cleaning it up and revamp it to make it clutter free but don't know how to do it. Might need a designer to get proper shelves or something like that!

My apartment is uncluttered always and I really have little choice in the matter! lol. It is pretty much empty throughout with only the bare essentials because I travel and move a lot for my work. There is not much point in my wife and I buying a lot of things because we will end up having to leave it all behind when we move on again. So very few things means little or no clutter. Silver lining!

I suffer from Obsessive compulsive disorder and one of my obsession is making the house clean also a compulsion to me. I have general cleaning almost every two months, that is I throw away things that I don't use, ok that is a hard task, throwing away things, but to me it involves a phase. Phase one is I took out the object and put in in some place and think about if it is worth keeping or I will just throw away. The next time I clean again, the feeling of holding back to the object is gone, and so I can throw it away without the guilt feeling. Sometimes my garbage would be sacks and sacks of things, most are cheap toys that the kids tore into pieces, as much as possible I want my house in order and free of clutters. It is a hard task sometimes because I have no helper and I look after three kids but I enjoy the moment when the house is in order. My mom is the, how do you put it? oh pack rats. when she moved to another apartment sacks of sacks of old clothes, old books, old papers are moved, and she don't want me to help her clean her house because she knew I will just throw everything
another reason why I don't keep things is because we are just renting and I don't want to go through a lot of packing things when we move again. but who knows when we have our own house, I might just turn into a pack rat

Well, I constantly clean and organize the place, but unfortunately, my fiancee is not the same. So he adds the clutter and mess, and I walk around and clean all the time. So it depends on when you are asking, really, and who was there last: me or him.
