global warming is now felt everywhere. we need to set the right examples for younger generation to sustain the environment. people realize there is a global warming problem but most have th attitude that "it's not my problem so i don't need to care"..now the question is: is global warming more hype than fact?

I am seeing global warming just as one another hype. Sure, it's something we should notice, but what Al Gore did with the movie, is showing us the 'in worst case' scenario.
Just take this example; 1 billion people are going to try to put a hold on global warming, which is ofcourse very good ! But how about the other 3 billion?
In my opinion, I don't think that you could really DO something about global warming. We have been living like this for onehundreds of years, so why should suddenly a change would make any difference? The most damage is already done..

That's it. It is all hype. No damage has been done other than a little ice has melted and the growing season has been extended a little, which is good for the food producers. The world is over populated and that's a fact. The extra heat being generated on the earth is the result of the over population. At some point we will reach a point where we can't produce any more food and the population increase will stop. We haven't reached that point yet. Al Gore is doing what he is for Al Gore. Al Gore means to be President of the United States before he is finished and he will use anything or anyone that will accomplish this.
Global warming will bring about some changes but man will easily adapt to the changes and go on like always. Mother Earth is a tough old gal and she can handle anything we throw at her.

And right you are Arkie69!
Another thing I would like to mention; you propably all heard about who is using the most power in Al Gores' city? It's himself! So he doesn't even care about global warming! Al Gore is since he lost with the president campaing sick of media! And with this subject he made BIG money with it!
Maybe you guys know the episode in South Park with Al Gore?
He's looking for menbearpig, but that's not what I want to talk about. The creators are trying to tell us with this that you shouldn't take Al Gore serious. He's crying for attention of the media, and tries to make money with it. If Al Gore never started that movie, we wouldn't even cared!

Global warming is really like a celebrity developed overnight; but this is what many people think. I personally view this as a problem gone unsolved for quite a long time, with the inconsiderate acts and wrong thoughts on this of people. Some say that they did not contribute to or cause it so they have nothing to do to help solve it. But what they aren't seeing is the bigger picture that everyone is affected by this phenomenon.
There are so much visible facts related to global warming. For one, the ice glaciers which stood for several decades have begun melting already. Another is the presence of huge whirlwinds happening here and there. This usually does not happen locally but now, there have been several sightings or occurrences reported.
On our part, I've heard that the excessive use of electrical appliances is also a factor to global warming; so as much as possible, we limit ourselves to using just a few appliances turned on all at the same time.
For instance, as much as we could, we don't use the electric fan as often as we used to. Also, whenever we leave the house, we unplug these appliances which also help us conserve energy and money.

People are using this global warming thing to try to do a lot of things. Man is generating a lot more heat in the many things we do to produce the energy we need plus there are a lot more warm bodies on this earth now than before. This includes both man and animals. Any warm blooded creature puts off heat. This heat rises and warms the air above the earth. This stuff about the ozone layer breaking down is just something some people can use to try to swing people's thinking in a direction that want it to go.
There is only one way to solve the global warming and that is to remove some the sources of heat off the earth. Have you ever been in a small room where there was a lot of people in it? Did you notice how hot it can get? That is exactly what global warming is.

One of big problems is the fact people believe the only way to produce energy is to burn something to produce heat that will produce pressure. Compression creates heat but a vacuum produces a cooling effect. If done right, and it could be done right, We have enough coast like with enough wave action to create all the vacuum we would ever need to produce all the energy we will ever need.
It is very simple to build a large steel box with one side out. You turn that box in the water where the missing side is turned down. Attach the box to the ocean floor where the box won't move up or down. The wave action will cause the water to rise and fall inside the box. This is a natural pump the will produce a cool pressure as the water rises inside the box and an even cooler vacuum as the water falls in the box. This could easily completely eliminate the use of fossil fuel in this entire world. This is not likely to happen for the simple reason the sale of fossil fuel is making too many powerful people even richer.
To heck with what the people need as long as it will make the rich richer. That is the kind of people that are running this world we are trying to survive in.

We should be thinking about using a source that creates less heat to produce the energy we need. Solar, wind, wave action and anything else we can come up with. I believe electricity is the only form of energy we should be using. It will do anything we need. It's how we are generating it that is getting us into deep trouble. The coal fired plants, the Nuclear generators and things like this produce way too much heat for the energy they produce. The production and use of energy is where our problem with global warming is coming from. It doesn't matter if it's the heat the food you eat generates or the gasoline you use in your car it all adds up. Just the number of cattle that are on this earth now adds a lot to global warming. There are millions more dear now in North America than there was a few years ago. The more energy we use the more global warming will increase. It is just a fact of life we are going to have to learn to live with until Mother Nature decides to step in and make some corrections.

Oh I think is is hyped judging from the eco bags that's been around, but it is good that even fashion people do something about it (even if they are more concerned on fashion than the ecological purpose of eco bags)

I think it's a fact. Al Gore presents a whole lot of evidence of Global Warming in his movie "An Inconvenient Truth." We can also see that the storms that are forming around the world are getting worse every year. Like you said, Global Warming is felt everywhere. How much more proof is needed?
