My late night visitor and some foul language!

Last night I was sitting downstairs alone, everyone else was in bed and the house was quiet. I had come off the computer and was just watching a documentary on Elizabeth Tudor, the curtains were open. All of a sudden there was a tap at the window, my heart did that funny thing it does when a person is scared and I got up and went to the window, at first I could see nothing. Then, a face appeared at the window, I swore rather loudly in fright and realised that the face was that of a cat! I was rather surprised as we do not have a cat, and went out to investigate, it was rather a fat, massive cat and it came to the door miaowed at me, had a fuss, miaowed again as if to say "goodbye" and disappeared! Have you ever had a surprise late night visitor? When something frightens you what do you do, do you just jump, squeal or swear?

much to the great annoyance of everyone else who may be there and frightened out of their wits.. i go into fits of hysterical giggles when im scared. i havent any idea why.. but when things get onto that freaky scale of terror.. i break into uncontrollable laughter LOL im the one you want by yer side to patrol a graveyard in the middle of the night.. but be prepared for a snort-fest in the process

I do that, but not when I am scared, and this is going to sound really bad but I do this when the kids fall over, I just get the giggles really bad and it is not because I find it funny, I think it is just the relief of knowing that they are OK. I remember when my eldest was little, I took him to a friends house, she had a little boy of the same age and they were playing upstairs, next minute we heard a bump bump bump bump, in stereo sound. We both ran to the stairs and the two boys were at the bottom, well as soon as we knew they were OK, I started to laugh and I could not stop I had tears pouring down my face. My friend of the time looked at me in horror, and then the next minute she started laughing too, we were both howling like a couple of loons for about 15 minutes.

those are the moment that i have to leave the room to break down. after making sure all is well and no artery clips are necessary.. i start to shake. all of the what if`s start going through my head and i fall apart. the sprite has taken many a tumble, there was even a time i found her scaling my livingroom wall using the drapes as a repel line i walked in and there is my tiny little girl near to the ceiling clinging to the drapes. i jumped into action and ran up and scooped her off the wall and she didnt get hurt at all.. after a lecture of how the drapes werent strong enough to use as ropes.. the promise of setting her up with actual ropes in the trees out back.. she settled into playing with something else, and i went upstairs and dissolved. gimme a poltergiest to contend with and im all carefree and giggly.. have my babygirl in any danger and im a mess.

I've had so many "vistors" of the night due to living in the country. We have possums come to eat the cat food out of the bowls. One time hubby trapped one and took it about a mile or two down the road and dropped it off but we've got yet another one. We just might have to buy our own trap for it looks like it's going to be a on going thing. Cats have been known to show up here at night as well. It's how I ended up with three more strays! I can't turn one away for they're looking for a home and they were obviously someone's cat that they dropped off here or near by because they're so friendly. It breaks my heart to see one like that fending for itself so I can not for the life of me turn one away. I just can't do it. So what did I do when I saw one of "what ever it was I saw" I'd gasp for air and jump back inside the door!! Then I'd peak to be sure it was what I saw and then show off the possum or try to be friendly with the cat. lol

Luckily this cat was not a stray, I would not be able to take it in because my son has an allergy to the fur.

I've been spooked a time or twenty before. Actually, I startle quite easily. I have had late night visitors before. Living in the country, we get all kinds of things in the backyard at night. Deer, skunks, neighbours cats, even a lynx once! They don't really spook me as I can usually pick out what they are. I get spooked easy by stuff that I can't recognize or stuff that I can only hear and not see. We do have foxes in the woods around our house and the sound they make when looking for a mate spooks me every time I hear it. Look up fox scream on youtube and you'll see why it makes me spooked!

Ha ha thats is funny!! My mums cats used to startle me when I was watching tv and didnt know they had come into the room. They would just jump on the sofa. Maybe the cat was coming to say goodnight to you. I must admit that when I am alone in the house alone I am prone to becoming startled by noises and such. i have always been a wimp when alone in the house at night. Im fine during the day but at night Im a night mare. If something frightened me I would probably squeal and jump as Im not one for swearing. I bet it took you a while to calm down after that didnt it?? If it had been me I would have had to close the curtains but would be glancing over at the window wondering were the cat had gone to, would it still be outside??

Once I realised what it was I went outside to it, the cat came to me and I fussed it. I think it did say goodnight, it was really sweet, it is one of the neighbours cats but I have never seen it in my garden before.

He might have got mixed up, but it was a nice visit anyway!
16 Sep 08
Maybe it goes in your garden frequently at night but since you had your curtains open he thought he would pop in and say good night. Either that or he got mixed up with the houses and thought he was at his house!!?? My mum has a cat and the next door neighbour's kitten keeps on invading my mums house!!

that reminded me of the same type of visit i had. only a bit scarier. i was sound asleep one night, back when i owned my house and 2 dogs. 3 am the dogs are in the kitchen, way away from the bedroom barking furiously! i got up scared out of my mind turned on lights on my way. they were looking up under the table and something was growling under there. an obviously fat pregnant kitty was under there and she was mad i made the dogs get into the bedroom, opened the front door, wondering how the kitty got in. when i called her she dashed to the doggy door and went out it ignoring the open front door. there was my answer. from then on the doggy door got closed at night.

Oh wow, I wonder if she was coming to have her babies in your house, if the dogs were not there you may have had a surprise!

The worst thing that ever happen to me when i talk negative with my classmate wayback highschool. It goes this way. We have a programmed, it's part of school activities, and our official emcee isn't around that is why our adviser looks for another emcee. and finally found her, she's my classmate actually. After the programmed we attend the class and Kuya Entok was there, He was the supposed emcee but failed to attend the program. He told he was late, I told him everything what was happen to the activities. I told him that our emcee has a poor grammar and couldn't talk well in the public. If only he was there, then the program might be very wonderful to all of us. It's not only me who did the comments, there are a lot of students gave their comments. I talk a lot with Kuya Entok without knowing that my classmate who do the emcee was at my back, when i turned my back i see her standing and without further explanation. She talks a lot of negative about me., like saying that i'm a backfighter and everything. I really want to disapper with that day. I felt like jumping on the window of our school or dream to have a magic to disappear immediately.

When I was still living at my parents about 15 years ago, I was sleeping on the sofa while my dad was watching television late at night. There was summer breeze coming in from the open door and window that lead to the garden. At about midnight I woke up with a fright as my dad shook me to wake up. I looked up and in the dark I saw the shadow of a monster rat silhoutte . Our quiet house turned into a mad house in a split of a second as both our parents are afraid of rats. It was my brothers and my duty to chase the intruder out of our house.

It is like that in our house, but with spiders. I am always shouting for one of my boys to come and remove them. I have rats that come in my garden I do not mind them they are quite cute.

I jump...at the same time the adrenaline starts and my mind is incapable of thought. Whenever it happens these days, I try to think about the most sensible thing to do...how to react, etc. Having a visitor like you did would have made me jump and had me rooted to the chair, incapable of movement...i would never have gone to the window to look out ....lol. That was incredibly brave of you...I wonder where the cat came from and why it wanted to attract your attention...very strange...

Once I heard some strange noises outside at night. Then I head something at the side door. I could see someone through the window in the door and sounds of someone trying to open the door... I called for my husband that someone was trying to get in the house. He head and saw the intruder and it he agreed there was someone out there.. We could see the edge of a shirt collar lit up in the moon light and there was movement. The door wasn't locked so we wondered why this person wasn't opening the door and how did he get in our back yard... once we had the guest of a neighbor get drunk and try to come in our front door by mistake so maybe this was another similar event. My husband went to the door prepared to yell at and possible do battle with this bozo. It turned out to be our cat. She had managed to climb through a hole in the screen and was up against the window . The white shirt collar was part of her markings distorted by her positon and little light. lol what a relief!

Hello gemini_rose. It is really scary of the cat to have its face appear at your window. Reading this discussion of yours, it reminds me of the cats which used to walk on the roof next to our old house window and stop by the window either during the day or the night. I was a kid only and was very scared of cats when they walked on the roof outside the window. Each time I would have goose skin come up when I saw one, especially when it was getting dark. I lived in that old house until I reached my twenties. Now we don't have this problem any more as we are living in a new house and cats will never be seen on the roof or before the window. I hope that you were ok last night without being scared too much by the cat. Take care, rose.

It was a bit scary, but it was nice once I knew what it was, a nice little visitor. I am fine, once I got over the fright I was fine!

hi gemini rose wouldnt mind a cat or dog late night vistor, but had one a scrougny looking young man who claimed he was a high school student out selling magazines to win a trip somewhere. but he looked to be at least 25 and he had needle tracks on his arms. wanted a drink of water, noway he was coming into my house at ten at night and me alone, myson at work. so brought him a paper cup of water and carried my sons baseball bat in one hand. he started on his sales pitch then he saw me swinging the bat, sat down the empty cup, and literally ran out of the patio and left. I locked the door then sat down and shook. I was so scared. my son came home and asked me about the bat, I told him of my unwanted vistor and he said I should have called the police. well for one thing as we lived over the cityline it would have had to have been the sheriff. anyway the guy ran off. lol lol lol.

poor cat. i would have let the cat in, fed it and adopted it. i feel sorry for the cat. maybe it was lonely and wanted to come inside into a warm loving home, and a human spoil it. what scared me before is one of my weird dreams..i have few creepy dreams...i didnt realize i was dreaming until i woke up and calmed down.

No, it was not a stray it lives next door but one, and I really do not think that it needed any more food it was massive!

Rose, well well ,my `visitor` no longer scares me,in fact quite the opposite, she has grown braver, and doesnt hesitate to put her head around the kitchen door and look for me now,she knows that there is always a tasty titbit for her,a little dish of something good. The other day my little visitor followed me down the garden, she nuzzled my leg lolshe purred and followed me everywhere,I had already given her a saucer full of her favourite food, but no ,she was insistent,so I went to the cupboard and took another spoonful of food out and popped it onto her saucer, she looked at me,she was saying,"there we are I knew if I kept explaining you would get the gist"she duly ate her second helping then turned tail and strutted back off down the garden path.that lovely little black and white cat

The other day I had a similar experience. It was a very dark stormy night. The wind was blowing very strongly. Suddenly I woke up from sleep. After a while, I opened the window to look outside. I could see someone was moving inside our banana garden. Nobody was supposed to enter inside the garden in such a horrible night. So I was sure that it was a ghost! My blood became cold....and I almost became senseless! Nobody other than me was at home that night! So thought the ghost was frightening me. I shut the window again quickly and tried to sleep. But could not sleep. I passed the rest of the night with my eyes open, could not sleep in fear. In the morning I went out of the room and went inside the garden only to find out that...it was only a loose banana leaf hanging in the wind which I had thought a ghost in the dark! ha ha ha!

Oh no, haunted by a banana leaf! But it happens, when we are scared we see things and really believe that they are something else.

Your post reminds me of something that happened when I was still living in Montana. I still get the giggles over it. I was a divorced mother with a 4 year old daughter at the time, and a news break came over the television. A convict had escaped from the prison that was about 25 miles away. He was presumed headed for the town where I was living, Great Falls. My daughter was asleep, and I went through the house making sure all the doors and windows were locked. My last stop was my bedroom. I heard a noise in the back yard where my bedroom was. I opened the curtain and looked at the window, THERE WAS A FACE LOOKING BACK AT ME!!!!! I about filled my pants, my heart was beating up in my brain having bypassed my throat. I almost screamed my brains out until....I looked again and it was my own reflection! I did sleep with a rolling pin that night.

I have several experiences just as you had mentioned ..I came a cross a lot of cats in the early morning for a period of time and this really scared me a lot ,meanwhile I am really wondering why there are so many wild cats here to frigethen the strangers ...!! Afterwards they just disappeared which make me quite pleased and so do other vitims.. I remember the first time I saw that unknown cats ..I was screaming really loudly .that's why my neighbours find me no longer a quiet girl..It is a pity my impression just spoiled because this screaming..
