Have you decided yet?

What your kids will be for Halloween? I'm very excited as I think I've picked out some great costumes. I haven't purchased them yet, but I have great ideas in mind, and it will be rather cheap to do. I plan on buying the majority of the costumes from the Salvation Army, and the few accessories I need from Walmart, Dollar Store, or possibly a Halloween store for a couple hard to find items.. but my kids are going to look fantastic! The baby probably won't dress up. He's not even a year yet, and with 5 kids I can't really afford to buy an outfit for a baby who will only wear it once. My 2 year old son is going to be Mickey Mouse. I will get him a black turtle neck, red pants and sew big white buttons on the front. White gloves and yellow shoes or slippers if I can find them. Then I have to buy the ears, probably at a halloween shop as I didn't see any at Walmart. Then paint his nose black. He loves Mickey, so he will love this costume. My 5 year old daughter will be an angel... I will buy her a white dress from the salvation army and get some wings and a halo wherever I can find them. Put some glitter on her face, she'll be so pretty. My 5 year old son will be the Joker. I have to find a purple suit and a green vest. Paint his face white with big red smiley lips, and spray paint his hair green and make it spikey. Now the best costume is going to be my oldest son. He's 11, and we've decided HE is going to dress up as Hannah Montana, lmao. Yes, he's a boy dressing as a girl, but not just any girl. I will buy the clothes at the Salvation army, buy him some jewelry from the dollar store... I have some nice beads he can wear. Put on a lot of make up, buy the wig, and find some nice flats he can wear. I still can't stop laughing about the image I see in my head. I will definitly take tons of pictures and post them! So what will your kids be? Do you make your kid's costumes or buy them? Will you dress up this year?

My daughter is the only one that still dresses up. She is 8. She is going to be a pizza this year. Still trying to figure it out, but should be fun to make. We usually make the majority of the costume and then if needed buy some accessories. That is too funny that your son is going to be Hannah Montana. We were just looking at some old photos and saw one of my son when he was about 8 and he dressed as a girl! I am not dressing up this year unless I get invited to a party. Then I will scramble to decided what to be.

The last time I dressed up was when I was 16, and even then I thought I was too old. Pizza sounds like a great idea. You could cut a large circle out of a very large cardboard box and glue felt pepperoni and things to it. Cut out a head and arm holes and she could just wear it around her head. Then put her in a brown jumpsuit so she matches the cardboard.

I was thinking about using a cardboard box too. I thought I could cut out the circle and then she and I can paint red sauce on the box. Then I thought about taking shredded paper and gluing it on for cheese and large red circles for pepperoni....we could add lots of veggies too if wanted. She wants her head to be in the pizza like a piece of pepperoni...don't know about that one. I thought about taking bungie cords and crisscrossing them around her back to hold it on her. We have to start making it soon incase it doesn't work and we have to go to a plan B.

my daughter went as Ming Ming from the Wonder Pets and my son went as Eddie Munster. I just bought a duck costume and then I went on Ebay to buy the official Wonder Pets cape. My son's costume I got at the local Walmart.

Ming Ming sounds like a really cute and rather cheap idea.

Why not! The Hannah Montana idea is so cool. How original. I'm sure everyone will love that costume.

I have not even thought about it yet, we do not really make a big thing of it over here but if the kids ask then I am sure hubby will take them around a few places to trick and treat. Well as for costumes, I am not the most creative person. Well actually that is a lie because I am I am just too lazy. I will probably cheat and go to this shop near us that sells all things like that really cheap, its my new best friend because I can get everything I want from there and pay really low prices!

I do not have halloween age children, but your ideas for your children are very ingenious. How does your eleven year old feel about dressing up as a girl? I usually made costumes for my son as well. You can find most things easily, and somethings you may already have. I hope your children have a great time on halloween.

you are very creative! lol...i love the hannah montana idea! you will have to post pictures after halloween! anyway, i have 2 boys- 1 and 3 years old. i bought the little one's costume right after halloween last year at toys r us... it was on sale for like $4 or something. it is cute...it's a chicken costume! it's got two pieces- there are orange "pants" with stirrups that go under his feet and the top is like a big, white fluffy jacket with the hood that goes up and has the beak on it. lol...it's funny. but i figured he doesn't know or care at this point, and it is warm enough that he will not have to wear a jacket over it, which in rochester ny is always an issue! my older is into batman and spiderman right now, so i think he wants to be one of those. it was buzz lightyear, but i guess he is not as cool anymore now, which stinks b/c amazon has their buzz lightyear costume clearanced!

Hi neighbor... I'm near Syracuse, NY, so totally understand the weather, lol. I usually do buy costumes after Halloween like you did, but last year just didn't have the money to, and by the time I had the money and got to the store, there was nothing decent left.

I am thinking of dressing my daughter up as a fairy. I got her a pair of red wings and a red fairy skirt at Dollar Tree, but I am not sure about what she will be wearing under it. My son has no idea what he wants to be since he cannot find any of the character ones that fit him. I do not plan on dressing up. I have not dressed up for Halloween since I was about 12 years old.

When my son was younger we had the most fun every Halloween dressing him up.. As soon as he was old enough to decide what he wanted to be, he chose to be a Ninja, so he and his dad were Ninjas.. It was such fun and different every year until he grew out of it, he is 27 now and just will not let me dress him up.. I bet you could find some of those great little yellow clogs for your 2-yr old, they would look almost like mouse feet.. When my son was too young for a costume, my husband painted his face to look like a clown, it worked and he was happy.. Sounds like you have a great Halloween in store for them, hope they have tons of fun..
