I have always wanted to write ever since I can remember. Its just this satisfaction that I get from writing that has kept my passion alive for it. However,it can be frustrating and disappointing when your writings are getting you nowhere!Am I the only one who thinks that writing is what I am born for and at the same have doubts about whether I will ever be able to make it as one?? If you are like me please feel free to "vent out":) and those who are "outthere" making it please share your stories! We all need encouragements at times!:)

Hi wildatheart. I feel like I was born to write as well. I have always done it, but until recently, was afraid to share it with others. I have had some success with my writing, but it's just the beginning. I plan on doing much more. Don't let people discourage you. Also, some people who don't have the desire to write or don't feel as passionately about it as you may make you feel silly when you are super excited about 1 piece getting published. All of us who write know how exciting and important that really is. Write away!

Also, if you are looking for ways to come up with ideas, purchase a creative writing book. Lots of them are good - I can give recommendations if you're interested. What I like about them is the activities. There are fun ways to make connections among ideas and come up with things you didn't even know were possible.

You are that creative...you've just had something that made you feel like you're not. We all have something to say in a unique and creative way. You just have to believe in yourself (even when you get no positive feedback) and remember that one of the true joys in writing is doing it for you.

i wrote a quote before of what hinders me from writing... "having not much to say", i wonder if that always had been the hindrance to what would have been another profession of mine, writing. i always come up with ideas in my head and believe me, i've tried to deliver it as descriptive as i can. but upon facing an empty page or a blank screen, i froze realizing that if actors and actresses have stage fright, i have WRITER'S BLOCK. that's about it!

I can relate to this, I have so much ideas in my head but the moment that i wanted to write it down, I just found myself staring at the blank page and I no idea at all how to start. It's always been my frustration because i've always wanted to write, how I envy those people who have creative mind and skills with words.

Nothing at all keeps me from writing. I look at it this way: If you are writing and responding to discussions at MyLot, then you are writing and succeeding at something you like doing. There are many different forms of writing: newspaper writing, blog writing, book writing, short story writing, poems, music, etc., etc. What I do is try my hand at all of them and see where I stand when it comes to being successful. I have written my first full-length book and self-published it at another on-line publishing program. I enjoy writing and will always enjoy it. It is one of my favorite hobbies beside building plastic model airplanes and boats, doing jigsaw puzzles, drawing and painting.

I agree. There are so many forms of writing and many ways for people to be "successful." Hope you enjoy having the book published!

I think the main thing stopping me is a lack of knowledge of the industry. I am also having a little trouble finding the time to write about the things I really want to write about. I would need to become more knowledgeable about a few subjects as well. I would need to be paid more for my efforts than what we get here at mylot for sure. I am looking to make dependable and decent income from writing. One reason I joined mylot was in hopes I could get some ideas of how to write about different stuff and get paid enough for it to help me with some bills...I haven't had a lot of luck thus far, but I really enjoy posting here at mylot.

I am having a little trouble finding stuff to write about as well. I don't know what to write about that I will be able to sell. Even if I did know what to write about, I wouldn't know to do with the article if I got it written. I have just started considering writing as an option for making money in the last couple of years, so I really could use the help with figuring out how to get started. Aside from getting topics and finding out where to sell them, I may need some help on the best places to go for research and stuff as well.

I really just started writing family stories in the last 2 years and putting them on my blog. Some people are recommending sending them to Reader's Digest or some such place. So I am thinking about the possibilities...

i wanted to be a writer and i worked as a writer but then i became a producer. the only chance i get to write is when i edit parts of the script that the writer has given me. there isn't much future for a writer here in the Philippines. sometimes people who are not born writers are given opportunity to write because, well, they are influential people and it saddens me because sometimes they hire ghost writers. it's a good thing that now there's blogging. at least, i can let go of my thoughts there. i don't think the talent in writing can be acquired. it's either you're born with that passion or not.

Until about two years ago I never knew that writing was what I wanted to do. I worked for my local newspaper as a reporter for two years. But when a new publisher was brought in she told me I was not a journalist because I don't have a degree. For a while I thought she may be right. But then I began to hear the responses of those who read my writings and I now know that writing is what I was meant to do. I am currently trying to get started on a book and have been told that an article that I want to write may be accepted from a magazine but won't be ran until 2010. That is exciting and gives me even more reason to continue in my writing endeavors. Just keep trying to achieve your goals as well. Never give up if writing is something you truly enjoy.

well, i never really thought about pursuing writing professionally. i know i loved to write things like poems. i think the closest thing i would be would be a lyricist. i love music and making the words for it, its the same as poems. i also used to write a lot when i was younger in school. i know i made a few short stories and i know i was working on a few longer stories that i never really did finish. the problems i had for the longer stories were the ideas and keep the story moving. i love creative writing but i think things shorter are better for me like lyrics and poems. also, another real draw back is that i suck at spelling and grammar. i failed a quarter in English in high school and that turned me down a lot. Most of my writing came from intermediate school. I remember a few short stories i wrote "Like Cats Eyes" and "The Truth about Guys and Girls" which were just nice ideas. As i got older I did a lot of poems about love, jealousy and loneliness. I wrote a poem about marriage and being with someone when i never even had a boyfriend. luckily i was able to give that poem to my sister when she got married. I thought it was more meaningful since it came from me, my husband (i finally got one) did some beautiful calligraphy for it and they have it posted on their wall. it was also published in a poem book that i had entered it in. i had also written a song for her as well but unfortunately i don't know how to make the music. i have about 100 lyrics full lyrics written through my past 10 years. sadly lately i haven't been writing much on poems or lyrics. i've been having some moments but i haven't been writing them down. i said i had a writers block phase and i think i'm just really busy with my family and life to do much.

I share the same sentiment. I also believe that I can write a lot of stuffs but this skill has sent me nowhere. Time plays an antagonist role in my writing aspirations. Well, if only time is always with me, probably, I might have found my writing skill a place in my world, or if not, in the entire world.

hi, wildatheart i have always written for along time, i started since i was a teen this the age where one thinks that they know everything and their parents are these evil monsters trying to suffocate them with DONTS, i would always write something down and especially when infatuated or had just had a fight with my mother and felt like being alone, i still do but i put my thoughts and ideas in a book that is hidden inside my wardrobe and under the mass of clothes, i guess what am trying to say is am painfully shy about my writtings i fear that others might find it shallow or worse still they can tell the way i think or how i hurt or pain

These two summers I tried to finish off some odd jobs in the house such as painting. I wish that I had clear set of mind so that I can dedicate more time to writing. Maybe writing will be something that I have time when I get retired.

When I was a teenager, I wrote all the time. I wrote stories for my friends (who loved them), and wrote for and won some competitions in school. But after high school I felt like I should focus on a "real" job. Lately I've been wanting to write again. I have written some poetry, I've started a couple stories and have some ideas. But I have this overwhelming fear that I'm no good and I'm wasting my time. Plus I don't know how to get published or do whatever you're supposed to do to make a living at it.
