30-Minute Drive

Boyfriend and I like to go on mini-drives and explore small towns or cities. Last Saturday afternoon, we decided to go to this town on a whim. It only took about half an hour to get there. It was such a nice, lively town with friendly people. We got there and checked out a small flea market and just strolled along the town. And then we crossed this pedestrian bridge and saw people kayaking and river tubing. If you drive for a couple more miles, you get to a state park with very tall redwood trees. This is definitely a place that I would enjoy going to again and again and I cannot believe I haven't been there before ever since I got here (going on 15 years now). And we did not even have to take the freeway.
Did you ever just find out and then visit a place close to where you live and then felt the same way I did? Boyfriend and I have been talking about going to this town for a while now but we always end up going to another place. I've been wanting to go river tubing and now I think I have to wait until next summer for that to happen.

Hmmm, no, but I've heard of it before. I was hoping it would be a town I had a story about, hehehe. Oh well. Man it is dull around here tonight. I think I'm going to have to find something else to do! Like go to sleep or something, jeez, my head is wobbling around on my neck, I can hardly hold it up! I keep yawning like it was 3AM and it's only 8PM!!

PS: I have found some great little towns around wherever I was plenty of times... and it always feels like discovering a treasure! Have you ever been to Big Sur? Santa Cruz? Do you like Napa Valley?

I enjoyed reading about your enjoyable Saturday afternoon and think that it is wonderful to go exploring to a town that I haven't been to before. The kayaking and river tubing must fun to watch. Next time you and your boyfriend go there you might like to explore the national park. Yes, next summer you can try out river tubing and that would be exciting for you.
I moved to a new area in 2005 and I enjoyed exploring places that I haven't been to before. I have been to Glastonbury a few times and walked up its Tor. I enjoyed looking in the shops that sell crystals and soaking up the superb atmosphere. This summer I went on a camping trip and was delighted to see new places like Dartmouth, a river side town. I noticed a steam train on the other side and a couple of days later went on that.
Exploring new places is great fun.

It's a little town called Guerneville in Northern California. Maybe you and hubby could start with the closest towns and take it from there. You take care too, lingli. And in case you're curious about what the town looked like : www.guerneville-online.com

Well I haven't been river tubing since BH, that is, Before Hubby! But we do like to visit new places and take a walk around the town. When we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area we used to take day trips to the Napa Valley quite often, or up the coast.

My husband and I LOVE exploring! We have found lots of interesting places by just jumping in the car and getting lost. We don't do it as often now with gas prices the way they are but we do it every once in awhile still. We found Cape May in New Jersey last year. It is on the Jersey shore. We had a great time walking around the boardwalk and going into the little shops. Plus, I love anywhere that is near the beach!

I find myself not looking forward to long walks anywhere but when I get there, I find myself having a very good time.
At first, we decided to go to San Francisco that afternoon but we thought about the gas price plus the $6 bridge toll and that is why we ended up in Guerneville.
Enjoy exploring and walking along the beach with your husband. Thanks moneyandgc.

That is nice that you and you BF spend time together doing things you like, it seems you two have a great relationship. I have never thought of that just riding visiting different little cities and towns. That is a good past time give a person something to do and a way to get out of the house for a change, I am a loner and that is a good idea I can use for myself. I really like that. I learn something helpful everyday on MyLot.

Thank you, Chevee. It's good to know my discussion turned out to be helpful to someone else. Yes, it is good to go out there and visit other places. I was having a bad Saturday morning and that afternoon trip made me feel better and "refreshed". Take care!

Lucky you!
Sisi, that must have been a terrific day out! I used to indulge myself in these mini trips when I was no so inundated like I am now. We have a country home downtown and the journey which takes about 3-4 hours drive is just fantastic. The green avenue and the rustic backdrop do so much to de stress! The greens is like a therapy fpr me and I lve going to that place if not forthe destination but for the journey.
Smiles...

Me and my fiance will sometimes go for mini drives around our town and sometimes to neighboring counties just for the heck of it,even though mostly we stick in our county because we both like the country, and we both like looking at the country even though if we are visiting a friend we will drive to another county to see them, even though we do not do that much anymore, since we do not see many of our friends anymore since we can not really trust them.
