how fast is the quad?

they say that the quad is the latest processor. so how fast is quad. can i play music while i scan my computer. how good is it in movie editing?

hi luntian_grace!
the quad core can run from 2.4Ghz upto 3.8ghz. what you ask is dependent on your OS being optimised to run on a Quad. there is a lot of confusion around speed and marketing of the chips with some people saying the chips run upto 8 times as fast which is completely wrong. check out a site called Tweakers Guide.

it is 4 times the speed of the normal processor of one core and double the speed of the core 2 due processors....so you can make many tasks at the same time and feel the speed of the proseccor but ofcource this will depend on your cash memory and ram and may be your hard disk speed....so if you want to play music and make scan you have to have huge ram
