I love Slam dunk too and my favorite character is none other than Rukawa Kaede!! *L O V E Rukawa!!* haha.. I need I watch slam dunk at least 3 times. The anime stops halfway and the manga continued with the Interhigh tournaments. It's really sad that they never show the interhigh tournaments in the anime. Some of the matches are great. If you like Slam dunk, you should read the manga.

hahaha, slamdunk and the prince of tennis are the best..!!! i mean, i'm not usually a fan of basketball (i hate basketball) and tennis, but ever since i watched the series, i actually got into them.. (well, not really basketball, i'm only fond of watching basketball games...) if you are wondering and having a doubt on watching slamdunk and prince of tennis.. you should try it and i guarantee that it will satisfy your athletic side...

The best animes based on sports for me are slamdunk, hajime no ippo and eyeshield 21. I got only to see a few episodes of eyeshield 21 on a local network here in the Philippines because it was shown in the morning but it was great. I got to know the continuation and ending of Hajime no Ippo in a PS2 game, and it was also great. I was also able to finish the story of slamdunk and it was also very great especially when rukawa and sakuragi did an awesome teamwork on the last seconds of their game with Sannoh. You should read it!!!

Slam Dunk for basketball. Oh how I like Hanamachi acts as a dumb hehe. Prince of Tennis for Tennis. Even though it has many fictional moves. Its still great. Hajime no Ippo for Boxing. The boxer struggling from weak to a champion.

Captain Tsubasa - Captain Tsubasa is a popular long running Japanese manga, anime, and video game series, originally created by Yoichi Takahashi in 1981. The series mainly revolves around the sport of Football (soccer).

The story focuses on the adventures of a Japanese youth football team and its football captain Tsubasa Ozora, whose name literally translates to "Big Sky Wings". The series is characterized by dynamic football moves, often stylish and implausible. The plot focuses on Tsubasa's relationship with his friends, rivalry with his opponents, training, competition, and the action and outcome of each football match.
I haven't seen to many sport-based anime. The only sport anime I've seen recently is Captain Tsubasa. It was a nice story, I enjoyed watching it whenever I could. prince of tennis is pretty good. thats the only real sports anime i've watched. unless you want to count initial d and mountain racing as a 'sport' i've watch some of that, i haven't seen everything in initial d like i have in prince of tennis. the ending is good, but i could ask for more. i've read some good manga with some sport themes. most are shoujo type manga like Inu Neko Jump (about long jump) POWER!! Girl Got Game (about basketball) Uwasa no Midori-kun (about soccer)
