can any one tell me how many types of cat are found in the world?

Domestic cats are one of the most fascinating animals. I think I prefer them to dogs because they are more independent and have 'character'. I don't say that dogs aren't equally loveable or lack 'character', it is just that a dog always sees his owner as 'master. Cats tend to be less dependent on us and consider themselves as equals. When you are loved by a cat, you know that you are loved because the cat chose you! There are many different breeds of domestic cat, some of which are cross-breeds with wild cats (Wikipedia lists 91: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cat_breeds ) but most of the ones that live with us are a mixture and of no particular breed. Cats, of course, include such large animals as lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars which don't usually make good pets but, nevertheless, have the 'cat magic' about them.
