Where do I paste the adsense code on a script

Hello...I really hope someone can help me with this, as I'm going around in circles trying to find out where exactly do I paste the ad code on a script. I am using an hosting company and I have installed a site and I want to place adsense ads on it, well eventually on any of the sites I may install. I have to go into file manager if I want to alter the look of the site or add something to it. So for the adsense ads, which file should I look for and where about normally within the script would you add the code. I hope that's clear enough for someone to beable to help me, I'm learning all this at the minute so I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
