I like classical guitar. I enjoy playing more than just chords and it's cool to play some of the classical pieces such as Vivaldi trios. Listening to guitar music though, I'll listen to either one.

A classical guitar has a wider neck and nylon strings. It is generally played using 4 fingers rather than picks. An acoustic guitar is typically steel stringed and often played by strumming chords and sometimes with fingerpicks, occasionally without fingerpicks too. I don't know if one is necessarily "better" it really depends on what you want to play on your guitar.

Well if you use acoustic,it is still better but some musicians really use classical for plucking songs..Classical is made of nylon strings and when you pluck it,it is not hurting while if you use the acoustic it is hurting but anyway,it is really up to the music player if what he or she want to use..:-0 GOd bless and have a nice day.:-0

I would LOVE to be able to play either of these! It is amazin though to see flamenco guitarists playing a classical 12 string guitar as their fingers sometimes move so fast. I did have guitar lessons when I was a child but never continued with it. Maybe one day I will revisit this as I would love to be able to play a guitar and sing along at the same time. It would be a very relaxing pastime I think.

Maybe I've had it wrong all these years, but I always thought an accoustic guitar and a classic guitar is exactly the same thing. Am I wrong?

Hi there glugster,,Well they are the same in the body but not exactly the same in the fretboard and the strings because in classical, the strings are nylon because it is design for plucks while acoustic got a thiner fretboard and the strings are metal brighter. When I was a kid I thought the same too but when I started to career the music I was wrong..There are three types of guitars.1,the classical and then it becomes acoustic and then followed by eletric guitar..;-0 God bless and have a nice day..:-0

Thanks for your comment. Makes sense now. And, as answer to your original question. I prefer Acoustic.
