I was just reading the article in the link I have provided below. I was aware of the Amish but I never knew they contracted out their services like this! And it seems they are very competitive too! Here is the article: http://realestate.msn.com/buying/Article_wsj.aspx?cp-documentid=10391366>1=35000 So, would YOU consider an Amish builder? Maybe other faiths should step up before the Amish corner the market?

Oh yes we have had work done by the amish, the are very hard workers,, they do quailty work, and they work almost non stop, maby taking a break to eat whatever they brought for lunch. now we did have to go and pick them up and drive them home every day but i have to say I would hire the amish to do a job any day , twice the quality for half the price!

Well I never expected the first response to be a real life experience of using these services! Wow! Picking them up and dropping them back seems a small price to pay if they are this attentive and cheap! (I am upset that I didn't check my title properly before posting it too! lol. Amish is spelt wrong!) Thanks for responding mrsbrian!

if you live in an area where they are close , sometimes they have a van that will bring them, we live in rule ohio and they are about 25 miles away, so no problem getting them here. have you ever seen them work? there like busy bees , no messing around- oh I hurt my finger and need to go home bull. Even if you dont have them work at your home , someday if you get a chance to go to a amish country area , its worth the tip everything hand made and i must say the food is great also.

I am Australian and based out of Egypt so unfortunately at this exact time in my life I have little chance of experiencing the Amish and their way of life first-hand! I have always found their way of life interesting though and they must have tremendous discipline to be able to resist modern practices as effectively as they do. I am moving to the USA by the end of the year so maybe I will get the chance to try their food after all! I am always interested in new things when it comes to food especially! lol.

I would hire the Amish before I would hire anybody else. In fact I might not even have the job done if I could not hire an Amish crew. They do quality work and they're honest. One of my favorite trips to take is through 'Amish Country'... it is so fun to see them riding up and down the road in their little horse drawn buggies! I get hand churned butter from them and maple syrup from the Mennonites that live near me. My mother had some Mennonites come and do some landscaping work for her but she had misunderstood what they charged and did not have anywhere near the amount that they asked for when they were finished. She was stunned and embarrassed and told them that she had even had to scrape together the amount that she thought they were charging. They told her not to worry about it and insisted on not charging her at all! She had to stuff the money in the guys pocket to get him to take it!

I think I need to read up on the Amish some more! They are in the central mid west right?? The only exposure I have had to them is through movies like "Witness" and the occasional documentary and they seem to be very much peaceful, God fearing people that have been quite well accepted for their way of life which is great. The butter and maple syrup sounds fantastic! I am really, really surprised that I have had two responses from people that have first-hand experience of this! I never expected this at all! Well if I ever need work done it is clear that I have two references already so the choice is pretty straightforward!
