Barcelona FC kicked off their Group C campaign with a 3-1 victory over Iberian neighbours Sporting Lisbon at the Nou Camp...... Goals from Rafael Marquez and Samuel Eto'o had put Barca in control and although Sporting Lisbon threatened to put the cat among the pigeons by pulling a goal back through Antonio Tonel....... But Xavi Hernandez's late strike ended any chance of shock comeback........ Two moments of Brazilian magic secured Shaktar Donetsk a deserved 2-1 away victory in their opening Group C match against FC Basel........... Fernandinho set the ball rolling for the Ukranian champions with a stunning free-kick after 25 minutes...... Jadson doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time...... Christian Gross' Basel grabbed a late consolation through David Abraham. HAPPY MYLOTTING!!!!!!!!!

I actually got almost all my predictions wrong last night. But, it was great to see Kluj win for a fairytale debut. Also good to see the likes of Barcelona starting to find their feet now. Cheers! Ram

I'm very happy Barcelona managed to win. They really needed this victory after the miserable La Liga start. As of Shaktar, I'm happy for them too, considering they have a Romanian coach (Mircea Lucescu) and player (Razvan Rat), and that they didn't have the best results lately either.
