Thanks for this discussion. My sister just called me, and she and her husband will be driving down tomorrow, to see what, if anything is left of their house. She has been in contact with the local authorities there, and knows that her neighbor's house, an 82 year old man, is completely gone. Not only did the hurricane hit, but a tornado also hit her street. They can only be allowed in her area during the day, so will have to wait until she calls tomorrow to see how it goes.

Hi Palonghorn,
I know I am only one person but please, please tell your family that my heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with them and I most sincerely hope that they will be ok.
I also hope that the 82 year old is safe somewhere but if God called on him it was his time. If he is gone he almost made it to a century in age, amazing!
Again, I am so sorry for all these people, victims, animals, and the communities themselves. May God bless them all.

Thank you, he's okay, but his house is gone, he had lived there since the 1960's. Like I told my sister, they were safe at my parent's home when it hit, and most everything else can be replaced, with the exception of a few things that had sentimental value.

My sister just called, her house is still standing, no broken windows, very little water damage inside. Yet, most of her neighbors' homes are gone, only a few stilts left standing. One of my sister's vehicles is in the back bay (Galveston Bay) along with their trailer and harley in the trailer. Their steps up to the house were gone but my brother-in-law found their ladder and climbed up to access the house and found it okay. So, a big mess to clean up but thankful she has a mess to clean up, so many others weren't as fortunate.
