i hate my job!!!

I really hate my job right now. I have no one to relate to which makes it very hard to do my job and be happy. The only reason I'm still here is because I can't find another job. I know it may be the same way every where else, but I've really had enough of this place. 27 women should not work in the same place. Too much "catty-ness". I have no one to talk to, and I've lost interest in my job and everything else around this place. No one really talks to me unless they need something, and no one believes what I say when I tell them something. It's like they think I'm dumb. I'm also the only minority in the office, which doesn't make it much better here in "good ol' rural Georgia" (and I say that sarcastically). Every time I make a friend, they do their best to either come between us or run them away. I hope the economy picks up soon, which should open up more jobs. I need a shot of something. (LOL!). They can just kick rocks...

I work at a poultry company in Accounts Payable. The work is not stressful, it's the people. Sunday is my 3-year anniversary here, but it feels like forever. And what makes it even worse is that my supervisor doesn't like anybody talking to each other. That's why one of my friends quit, and the other they fired. No real reason why they fired her. They said something about her being absent without notice, but she contacted them the best way she could. They claimed they didn't know anything. But that's just what kind of people they are.

Hi Trell8402, I am really sorry you are feeling this way. I work for county/government and what we do is find people jobs and get people off the welfare system. At the required job search classes we always tell people that if you are not happy at what you are doing you will not perform well. You've stuck it out for 3 years that's a plus! Do you have a resume ready? Do you need help putting one together? Keep on keeping on...it'll get better...Warning: whatwith the economy what it is today, beware...don't quit...wait till you have a sure thing to look forward to. Good luck...if you need help with your resume...let me know...I'll help you. Stay cool, stay well and never, never stress! ~G~

Yes, I always have a resume and cover letter ready. I've registered on Monster, Career Builder, and I'm always checking out companies' websites. Maybe I need to tune up my resume a little. I have 2 more classes before I graduate college with my Associates degree in Computer Information Systems. I'm hoping I'll get a break then, but I doubt it.

The only thing I can tell you is to stick it out girlfriend. The only thing worse than having a job you hate is no job at all. I used to leave jobs for that very reason; mind you this was the 90's when you could walk outside and get hit with a job. Now I am stuck at home because I lost my last job, and I am working hard at getting my internet business off of the ground. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but at the same time it would make things a little easier if I had some regular income coming in at the same time. At least I would have something to leave when my business does take off. But you keep your head strong and keep looking for something else. It will come.

Yeah, my mom said the same thing--stick it out. But she hasn't worked since 1985, so things have changed a whole lot since she worked. But I can't afford to quit, so I have to just deal with the headache....

Hi Trell, I can understand how you feel, but hang in there. I am jobless now because the company I worked for closed. I have worked with a lot of females too in the past and they really can keep things messy around a workplace and by that I mean gossiping, etc. They have their little so called groups and they don't like to let other people in on things. I had gotten where I would go in do my job, take my breaks alone and when time to come home I would just leave all those thoughts right there at the workplace. You can do it just ignore them and do your job and forget those people. I wish I still had my job I have no income now. You said you live in rural Georgia, where in Georgia?

I stay about 50 miles from Savannah in the Fruitcake Capital of the World (I hate fruitcake) with the population being about 3,000. My mom said I need to wait it out too, but sometimes it's trying. A job did come open where my best friend works, but she wishes she can come back where I work at; even though it would have been fun to work with her again, I decided I better stay where I am. What makes it worse is that I'm the only minority in here, so some really don't know how to act or talk around me (which they confided in my friend when she worked here). I'm a human just like them, so it's not like I'm that much different from them. The only thing is my skin color. My current supervisor used to try to get me fired, but because I'm a good worker she couldn't. She also did the same thing with one of my other friends, who was a minority, but she was successful with her. I'm hoping I won't have long here because I'm two classes away from my Associates degree, but who knows... I might be still stuck here...

Hi, i think i have problem same like you. but you young your age is 27yo, right?) so many opportunity open to you don't worry. I said i have problem same like you is about situation the office but cos i already more than 30yo is not easy to find another jobs. If the situation make you must still stay in office cos not yet get another job so try to compromise with situation. Am doing like that, i try to see the good side why am must stay and why i must move to another company. But am never stop to looking around (searching jobs) who's know maybe am luck.

Thanks for the response. I am actually 24, but most days I feel older. LOL! I decided to just deal with it because with the economy in bad shape, there are no jobs in my small town area. But as soon as I can make a break for it, believe me, I'm going to start looking again. Not only has the work become stressful (because we have a shortage of people, and they can't hire anyone right now), the people make it stressful also. I try to ignore them, but on some days it's hard to do. It's hard being the "different" one in the office. Thanks, and good luck on your job search also.

That good, don't make impulsive decision even you think u can't handle the situation any more. 2009 is not the right time for us to resign from we job now, we still can said thank God am still have job and get salary. Cos i believed out site so many people want get work even just get pay low salary. So my suggest for you is stay for a while, save at bank your money for next year for you move to another city or country or to find another job. But don't resign before you get another job OK? And Good Luck for you too
