I am watching the show DOCTORS. ITs bascially a talk show, and it has 4 well known doctors as the hosts/stars. One of the stories today is about a 12 yr old that was 232 pounds and wanted liposuction, and her parents allowed it. Then a yr later she gained back about 5 lbs and they took her to Mexico to get lap-band surgery..cuz noone in the U.S would do it...gee i wonder why. The teen also wants breast implants to a DDD cup, as well as skin removed from the arms and tummy, that was left after the weight loss. Of course her parents had an answer to every question asked on why they allowed this, none of which convinced the doctor panel taht it was a good idea, but none the less they did decide to do this and allowed it. The teen had high blood pressure and was borderline diabetic (both controllable with meds, not necessarily a death sentence) DO you think that its smart or healthy for teenagers to have any sort of cosmetic procedure? If you think its ok, would it be just because they wanted it, or only if it was matter of life or death?

I think that exercise is the way to go. Lap Band might be necessary because of the extreme amount of weight that this child needs to lose, but she really has to start exercising or it isn't going to help the problem. Also, no one wants DDD cups, that's a horrible idea, I have DD and I felt overweight when I was at 95 pounds simply because I still couldn't see my feet and I still had to wear extra large clothes. Hopefully this little girl becomes better educated and gets a better body image by the time she turns 18!
