I got the Internship!

I am so happy! So I wanted to start this discussion as soon as I got home this late morning but I had too much things to do. So one of the classes that I am taking this year requires me to take an internship with an organization. It's an unpaid internship. And the teacher gave me the organization. Today I went to the interview with the Director of Literature and I got the internship. I start on Monday and am going to work from 10:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon and then the same time on Thursday. Then there are special times when I have to go in the evening when they are working with some spanish writers and I have to go and help them out. So it's really cool and I am really happy for this internship because I'll be able to put it into my resume. I started a discussion about this before. He was really impressed with my resume. And the cool thing is that when I am helping out in the evenings then I could get one of the days that I am working off. So if I work five hours in the evening helping out then I won't have to go in on Monday or Thursday. I'm really excited to go on Monday and get started with the job. So my job at first will just be to make phone calls and make copies and send faxes and stuff like that. But I'm okay with that because everyone starts somewhere. So wish me luck guys. So has anyone here had an internship before? How did it go for you?

hi ayumi-chan! congratulations! i knew you would get it! and yeah, everybody starts with something, usually starts at the low key jobs. and its just an internship. usually, the works involve are those in the baseline, those laborious works under the management. but your job sounds easy. you'd pass that stage with flying colors. ^__~ my internship, or on-the-job-training as we call it here for our field of work, was only two months but full of hard labor. but it was a lot of fun because i was with a lot of my friends, we got accepted in the same agency, and we made a lot of friends there. so we didn't mind the hard work. ^__^ good luck with your internship!

Thanks secretbear. I was really nervous while I was in the interview and I was twisting my headphones around my fingers but I don't think the director noticed. He only told me a few of the things that I need to do. He said that they are shorthanded right now so they can use all the help that they can find. I'm just really nervous about my first day and hope that everything goes good and that I am able to make some friends. Thanks for the well wishes. ^_^

Congratulations! No I haven't had an internship. But I did have 4 teaching situations. The first one was more observation, write up the observations, and help out once in awhile. Then next one was help out and then write up what I did. The last two were student teaching. All of these were unpaid, but help out on a resume. I liked all four and I thought they went well. I liked each situation because they were all different. The first one was French Immersion 1-3 grades. The second one was a Follow Through Kindergarten (after Head Start), and the next two were a 3rd grade with everyone average to above average and then a 4th grade with IQs ranging from 80 to 160 with ability groupings of 4 reading groups, 3 math groups, plus all the other subjects and was that teacher ever happy to see me! The third grade was almost boring and too easy. The 4th grade was almost too hard, but I loved it because it was challenging and kept me on my toes.

That's really cool. That must have been alot of fun. And yeah having stuff like this do fill your resume up tremendously. After I finish this internship I'm hoping that I am able to get another one. If I stay with this internship and get paid for it then I'll probably still try to get another internship or something.

Yeah I know. Internships teach you a lot and you are able to meet people that can help you with something later on in life.
