I wouldnt pick one because I enjoy them both. Thats the beauty of competition they tend to improve there services realiabity and features just to attract more ratings. I have several favorite programs at abs and so as the same at gma so I enjoy them both and wouldnt pick one. Happy mylotting!

I used to watch shows from GMA 7 but I suddenly realized that one day, I was getting more hooked in shows from ABSCBN. I think it was the time that all GMA ever showed was fantasy shows and having the same actors on screen all the time. In channel 2, I start watching the news when I get home from the office until the show before the news again shown late at night. This is when there's no CSI showing on cable. LOL!

I watch more shows in abs-cbn. Actually most of the shows i watch on tv is in abs-cbn like deal or no deal, tv patrol world, i love betty la fea, dyosa, iisa pa lamang etc. The only shows i watch in gma 7 is kim sam soon and survivor philippines. I think the artists in abs cbn are more talented and more popular. This is just my opinion. I think it's a good rivalry because it encourages them to come up with even better shows.

ABS-CBN provides better programming compared to GMA. Like for example Wowowee, when this program became famous to Filipinos, Eat Bulaga suddenly change it's format similar to Wowowee. Eat Bulaga is shot. I saw Mark Herras in Fantastic Man and i can say that it was the worst acting i ever saw on tv. He's supposed to be crying but it looked to me like he's laughing. I have nothing against GMA but personally in my own honest opinion, ABS-CBN is doing a better job than GMA.

I think both stations are equal in all these aspects... but what i don't like is the unhealthy rivalry between the two... instead of helping each other for the benefit of the viewers... they resort to bickering and black propaganda... that is why i don't patronize either of the two...
I always watch cable... and i am slowly getting intersted in the new shows of TV5...

There isnt any best in any tv station. At least for me that is. But I would be a hypocrite if I dont admit that Im more taken with GMA. I guess its because Im loyal to anything that I like and waay back, GMA had the good variety of cartoon and anime shows so thats where I mostly 'tune in' to. Just went on when I grew up, from the morning shows to the afternoon drama series, then to the primetime shows on GMA. There were only a few shows that I truly watched on ABS, and before I prefer the news shows on ABS, but we get home a bit later so we catch the GMA news shows.
Artist, when you think about it most artists on ABS started on GMA, they just 'migrated' to ABS. As for GMA, they focus on a few artists and truly make them big. Downside of this is that there are some good talents that get neglected.
Satisfied with their programming, well, I can trade both of them for cable tv, except for Dyesebel.LOL
Rivalry, like what other responders have already mentioned, good competition always brings good vibes to the audience. What I dont like is that ABS seems to have no originality most of the time. I mean, when GMA thinks of something new like starting a talent search, or adopting US shows, ABS would shamelessly follow suit. Im not saying that GMA doesnt do this also since they have but ABS always seem to be more obvious. Id appreciate it more if they come up with new material that most people can truly say that 'no one else thought of this but ABS'.

Hmm... I don't really watch that much TV anymore, so I'm not sure what station I prefer above the other. Hmm... I guess I'm a both-station person, then?
I mean, there's this categorizing I do: for news and other information splurge stuff, I usually go to GMA because, while they do protect some... personalities as well, they're not as biased as ABS-CBN in giving out information. I'll still need more reports to gather (radio/newspaper) if I ever want to get to the truth as close as possible, but in a race between the two, GMA wins over ABS-CBN in news reporting (and documentaries) any day.
For entertainment, though, I go to ABS-CBN. While ABS do steal talents from GMA, they have their own pool of talents that they handle carefully, unlike GMA, and they have a rotation of stars in order to give each one a time to shine. The production values are really just that much better, and for the most part, while I am not generalizing them all to be good actors/actresses, ABS' talents have the upper hand in the acting department. While I'm not a fan of primetime TV at all, the few telenovelas I actually enjoyed (because they defied the common telenovela sterotypes) came from ABS-CBN. The story and dialogue from these two (three?) stories I enjoyed do fall on cliche, but they have enough diversity to make them unique. Add the better production values and better acting, and ABS just is more entertaining for me than GMA shows.
I wish both staions would have more variety though. Really.
