Filipino games? oh I would never run out of topics on this one. Well, I grew up from the province, and so games are everywhere. My neighbors and I use to play house pretend (bahay bahayan). We actually cook rice sometimes and buy salted egg and boil leafy vegetables (like sweet potato tops or talbos ng amote). We use tree leaves and pretend it was real money. We also play hide and seek. Our plaza is just near the house, so we play there often. We also play patintero even at nights, sometimes our sessions ends at midnight. Childhood plays are very fun. Oh I also love playing indoor games. when I was in high school my friends and I play jack and stones during our breaks. we also like playing sungka. Those wer the days that we feel so free and we really did have a lot of fun. very nice topic my friend.

i really love the patintero and taguan, hmmm. after reading your discussion i just felt missing my childhood friends, i used to play with them, too bad some of them have their own families already and they live in the city already. I wish the time would come back, i love the old games more than now...

hi red_amethyst! we loved playing patintero too! even if its hot and sunny and dusty outside, we would play the game. we'd bring water from the "poso" and make the pattern with it in the soil. we also played "moro-moro", i think that's "agawan-base" in your place. and yes, the hide and sick is popular everywhere! we'd play that game too at night with a full moon. ^__^ we'd also play Chinese garter, and all those games that uses garter or rubber bands tied together. and then jumping rope, "saksak-puso" and all those games of it. also, kick ball which sometimes turns to be so physical that we'd hurt each other if we throw the ball at our opponent. ^__^;; indoor games would include jackstone, paper dolls, "lutu-lutuan", we'd play with candy wrappers as if they were money, and a lot more. my favorites would be kick ball, jumping rope, Chinese garter, jackstone and paper dolls. i excel in all those games.

I don't play indoor games when I was a kid. I love to run around with my neighbors, play patintero, bato-lata, shatong, hide and seek and many many more. What I remember most of my childhood is that I am a very fast runner. I was once chased by a very bad dog.

Yeah I remember those days when there were no PSPs and gameboys around we tedn to play more outside than today. I am just sad that these games are not as popular as before. It has been replaced by these electronic ones which tends to make children confined but less physical which I think they need while they are growing up.

Hi! I love the "luksong tinik" and "taguan" the most! I miss these Filipino games that I used to play when I was in the elementary grades. My mom would allow us to play outside for about two hours after school. I used to play with the neighbors' kids. It was so much fun! Notwithstanding the "bungang araw" and the "libag" that went with these games. Hahaha. Happy myLotting!

Hi there Red Amethyst! I miss playing "patintero" the most. I remember when I was in elementary and high school, we would play that in the afternoon in front of our house. My friends and I can play for hours. It's really fun. I miss playing it and I miss my friends too.

When we were kids we used to play taguan, piko, bagol, sungka, chinese garter, and patintero. We also played aircraft cards, whirling balls on our ankles, jackstone and those small pouches with sand or small stones inside, we play them like jackstone. Those were childhood days and I missed them. I wish I could get back time. Have a nice day!

i remember playing sungka a lot, we used these little spiral shells (like the dall's top on animal crossing) called "batad." i also loved playing jacks and this game we called "sua pao" which other people call chinese jack stone. actually "sua pao" literally means sand bag, but we fill ours with mongo seeds.

I love to play taguan because I love hiding in the most unlikely places. It is really very exciting the moment that the "it" comes searching for the other people as I make my way to the base and be safe from becoming the it. Well I could still play it yes but I don't think I'll be able to hide myself that well now.
