I was thinking to put this in "Graphics", but I decided in "Internet" because I know just about all Internet users have bumped into these flashy forms of art.
So what do you think of them? You can mostly see them on MySpace, Yuwie, Friendster, some forums here and there and in places very unexpected.
Why did they become so popular, why do people continue to use them as their primary element in profile decoration, why do people still persist in using them on clean profiles.
I'd like to know and I don't wish to offend people that love them dearly. I am just curious and I thought this would be the perfect place to ask.
Personally, I find them to be a huge eye sore. I usually don't approve any comments in my clean profiles unless I use the profiles for advertising.

It's a huge eyesore indeed and it adds up loading time for all those with dial up connection. Sometimes it makes reading websites a lot more difficult because of the annoyances these glitters make. I'm not saying it's bad but I just hope people will use it wisely and effectively.

Maybe someone like you feel annoying with that glitter graphics, but a lot of them love it, cause it looks pretty. And i didn't annoyed with glitter graphics, but i don't like it too much, so i don't use it at my profile

But I don't love those glitter graphics at all.
It reduces the usability of the pages and distracks users very much. Though its ok to have 1-2 small glitters on a page and also in a side, but it looks very uneasy to have them all over the site and in your face.
