Did anyone ever grow up with their horse being their best friend?

Maybe this sounds corny, but as a child and teenager, I didn't have lots of close friends. I loved horses and had a few friends that rode with me. When I got home from school, after chores, I would ride. My parents didn't have a lot of problems with me, even as a teenager, because they always knew where to find me - on one of my horses. It seemed no matter which horse I was riding, I didn't have to worry about them backbiting me, trying to give me advise, having them hook me up with some guy - you know, all the girly stuff. My horse would listen to me and console me without having to say a word - if they could. Now as an adult, I sometimes wish my friends could be like my horse.

i grew up with horses and loved spending time with them, if ever i was down id just go for a long ride to relief te stress so in a way they was kind of my friends as i would talk to them aswell but i wouldnt say i saw them as my best friend etc its just like having a big dog really.
