Hollywood Stars... - Hollywood Stars...

Recently I've been noticing something. It seems like alot of Hollywood stars...like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and several others are all living in other countries. Jolie and Pitt just had their twins in France and are living there now as well as keeping a house in the US for use while filming. Johnny Depp does the same thing. Not only are actors and actresses doing this but several singers are too...Shania Twain lives in Switzerland. This seems to be a growing thing and I'm just wondering if it's a new trend or a way to get out of paying taxes on their income? Any ideas? How do you think this will effect our economy if at all? I don't think it will affect anybody's economy. In any case its a known fact that Hollywood, where all the stars are supposed to be, is no longer the life hotspot it was. I guess they all choose to live wherever they feel is best for them and their lifestyle. Most of the time that would be in a place in Europe thats scenic and totally alltogether.

I think a lot of the Hollywood famous move just to get away from the popparazzi. They can walk to the corner market in their PJ's if they wish and aren't likely to be mobbed or have helicopters flying over their homes twenty-four hours aday.

Probably wont hurt us at all as alot of actors and actresses from other countrys live here. And thy just might do it not to pay taxes but them if the have houses here they still have to pay property tax.

but i think it has always been that way. when actors and and singers leave to live in other countries. yeah if that is what they want to do then i say go for it. and if they get a tax break why not. i mean as long as they are happy who cares really

taxes may be a huge part of it. maybe they get more privacy by moving away. i would hate being in the spotlight all the time. everythingthey do i made into a big deal if it's nothing but going to the grocery. i know they chose their lives but i wouldn't want to live that way.

I don't think it has to do with income taxes, I think it's because they get more privacy living in another country. Think of the stars in the US and how much gossip and photos there are of them. Then think of the ones like Jolie and Depp and how you hardly ever hear any gossip or paparrazi stories about them. If anything, it would effect the economy b/c less paparrazi will have a job!

I think it is the heavy traffic driving to work in Hollywood everyday and all those autograph hounds plus the Pararazzi with their cameras. Personally with the way some Hollywood Stars are for some weird things is they better stay away. And they have to still pay taxes. They have to pay taxes if they work in the country they live in and also in the States. Besides it could be that all the fancy mansions in Hollywood are taken.

I don't know about Shania, but Johnny isn't the Hollywood type. He must be happy in France. Angelina and Brad are super stars here in the States but abroad, they are just another actor-actress couple. They must have more peace outside the U.S.i don't know if this is a trend but I can see going to live outside the States so My family and I could walk down the street in peace.

I think it is more to get away from all the crush of photographers who hound them constantly. Lots of other countries have a more relaxed attitude about high profile people. Plus not all these other countries have tax advantages. Some countries have taxes much higher than ours.

This is not a new thing. Back in the 50's Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor both had houses in Mexico the city of Puerto Vallarta. There are a lot of other famous people who had houses there also. I think it just sounds like it is a new thing. Johnny Depp's wife is from France and I think that is why they are living over there.

I think they are doing it for private reasons. They are not bother in other countries like they are here,by the press. I do not see it hurting us,but it is hard to tell.I think we are in a bad way because of election year.

I wish I could afford to own my own home, let alone have multiple homes all around the world. Must be nice to escape the winter cold 365 days of the year. I doubt the actions of a minority will affect our economy though. It is the middle class workers who keep the economy turning.

I don't know why they live in different countries, I haven't thought about it that much. Maybe it is a way to get out of paying taxes, if so I don't think thats very good for our economy, but surely they will have to pay them if they spend time in the US, I would think. Have a good day

I forgot to add, they probably do pay taxes, because my mother in law lives in Africa all the time, and she still has to file her taxes, even tho she doesn't live here, she's still a citizen. She may not owe or get a refund when she does but she still has to file, we have to do all that for her since she isn't here.

I think alot of the reason the move is to have a life. Here the paparotzi, won't leave them alone. Maybe overseas they can have a normal life. Plus some of the stars are returningto where they grew up. If they own houses here they have to pay taxes on that. I would imagine if they make money here they have to pay taxes on that money too. If I had the big bucks it would be fun to have houses in other countries. I think some people want to live in an area where its beautiful and they can have privacy, they can go shopping or take a walk without being bothered. That life has to be difficult at times.

From my understanding the tax rate in a lot of foreign countries are lower than the U.S. so that might be a factor. I personally do not care for the Hollywood crowd so good riddance to them.

They still have to pay taxes on their income because they made it in the USA. Now if they made their money in another country, they'd have to follow that countries laws so they're paying taxes either way they go. Now depending on what bank they're using, a US bank or over seas bank is whether or not they pay taxes on the interest they get.

I always thought that Hollywood stars would live wherever they wanted. They certainly are free and can choose any country they like for their residence and many would probably have several places in different countries. Cheers!!

I think it is just to get away from the damn picture nappers. I forget what they are called now. Geez, it's on the tip of my tongue. The ones that submit racy pics and lies to the tabloids. Anyway, I think it is a great idea so they can get some privacy and actually live a normal life like us, instead of being interrupted all the time throughout their entire existence.
