I was a stay at home mom while my children were young. I can't say I really missed adult conversation because I was involved with our church. I took my responsibility very seriously and enjoyed every second with each of my 5 children. I really believe it make a huge difference in their lives.

I'm about to have my first child in February and I am hoping to stay at home with him for as long as possible; at least until he goes off to school if we can make that work financially. I think there will be days where it will be hard, but I believe if you make sure to make your own life a priority as well it shouldn't be too difficult. It's important to maintain your own interests and identity as a mom, and teaches your children some valuable lessons in the end. I want my son to know that I am always there for him, but that I am also a unique person who does her own things too and has a well-rounded life.

You're going to be a fantastic Mom. Don't let anyone change your mind.

Thank you :-) Not that I doubted it for a second, but it is always nice to hear all the same.

I do miss being able to just talk to someone whenever I need to. My husband I'm sure would tell you that I miss the conversation b/c I talk his ear off when he gets home. It has also made me more outgoing and talk to people while I am out...like say the cashier or other shoppers in the store. I also am very involved at church so it has helped me have an outlet for conversation.

Most definiatly! I've been home for 5 yrs and I'm starved for some adult conversation! It's hard when you don't get out as much as you used to or interact w/ folks that much anymore. Sometimes I swear I'm turning into a vulture, a see an unsuspecting mom @ ODD's school and swoop in for some chit chat *LOL* I'm known to get carried away and talk too much! I also agree that it can make a huge difference in their lives having mom home. But I also think that the way the econonomy is going folks will be attempting to return to work just to keep their bills current KWIM? As I've had to pick up a pt job just to get out and help pay for groceries.

I would say that yes I do miss adult conversation after being a stay at home mother for a while now. I have a five year old son and I have worked off and on during his life but we just moved about five months ago to Alabama from Pennsylvania. My husband is working outside of the home which pretty much leaves me with a lot of the care taking. I love my son and taking care of him but I do need to be around older people as well. I log onto this site just to correspond with others and to cooperate in mature conversations. It does help.
