When kids get to a certain age, they want to go to school. Most kids now start at a preschool and they get a little taste of what school is like. I think that the preschools really get the kids prepared for school. They teach the children the basics and they children get their socialization skills while in preschool.

My daughter is 4 1/2 and she loves school. She is in full day prek. Lol, I actually had to keep her home from school two days this week because she was sick and it was like the world was coming to an end. When they are young, kids will like school. As for prepartion, I just worked on listening and following directions, so that I knew she would do okay with the teacher. I stayed home with my daughter since she was nine months, so I was a little bit worried about the social interaction, but she seems to be doing okay now. For me and my daughter, the fun part was learning. Although kids will learn when they get to school, it can be fun to do at it home and with family too. We worked on the ABCs and writing (which is very easy when you start with tracing) and counting. I started this at around two years of age. We did and still do a lot of craft projects (like making piggy banks or pencil holders out of plastic containers.
