I guess he was too busy taking pictures to bother doing anything. No wonder he was depressed!

That was just horrible. Watching a baby suffer for 20 minutes just to try to get the perfect picture!? And then walking away as if he'd just taken a picture of a pile of garbage! I hope the image of that little girl was the last thing he thought of as the exhaust fumes killed him. I would have dropped all my belongings if I had to, to carry her to help. Even if she couldn't have been saved at least I would have known I tried.

yes, how could he just left the child behind?! this is what i heard about the journalists and photographers. their duties are witnessing, reporting, taking pictures and that's all. they try not to involve themselves into the event, into the news. they are to report, not to help. but yeah, it's still unbelievable. why didn't he just take the picture and then take the kid to the UN food center? it is not so hard; he will still get the pulitzer anyway. human!

heck he could have told the UN to go get her if he was afraid of injuring her by moving her.. just a few words out of his mouth could have made a difference and saved her life

Oh yeah I remember seeing this pic once and it made my jaw dropped because I couldn't believe that someone can actually don't possess a hearty compassion for those who are in need, especially children. If you are a photographer whose doing his job you are still entitled to go out of your way to save people especially children. I could not imagine why the photographer did not save this kid after taking the pic. We all know that this is a good photo and has a good subject, but he should have taken the child with him despite of everything. Instead he left the kid behind for the vulture to devour. What a sad scene and very inhuman. May He forgive you from your not being compassionate and helpful. Shame on you Kevin Carter. Shame on your grave.

It's so depressing. I mean i eat a lot and this kid can't get any. I think the problem is political. Something must be change in the system of the government they're in, if there is any. Superpowers care i think but it's not enough. I think they should see the place themselves.

they had a thing in my city where i think it was the mayors that all of them decided they would be homeless for a day and night.. only half the candidates did it but i thought it was awesome that they spent the night on a bench in the downtown area.. if we could get something like that to happen and make who ever important go here and watch then maybe that would me a difference

what a poor excuse for humanity. I guess Mr. Big Time Photographer was too busy looking for his next shot to try to help this child. Whether or not the child would have actually survived was not up to us, but there is no way I could have left that kid like that. I am glad the poor bast*rd killed himself...

That is horrible! I don't understand how that man walked away from that child. He could have at least helped him. Even if the child was to far gone to be saved at least he would have tried. That child could be alive right now but we will never know. He did get his in the end. It is still so very sad. I don't understand how anyone could have left that child there like that.
