My Dad and Step-mom went and visited some of my Mom's family back East a few years ago, the year after they got married I think. My Mom had passed away and they got married the year after. Well they had gotten together after a long separation. See she and Dad had had an affair when I was a child. She had been one of my Mom's best friends. Well when they visited Mom's sisters and brothers they came right out and told them about the affair. Needless to say, Mom's side of the family doesn't think too kindly of Dad and Step-mom. Seems to me they should have just kept their big mouths shut!!!

Yeah, I have to agree with you that things would been better off if they would have just kept that information to themselves. What purpose does it serve to let others know that information, other than what the outcome has became of it.

It is a case that sometimes being a big mouth fires back and might have repercussions. If she have managed to keep her mouth shut, things would have remained business as usual.

I agree. Some things are better left unsaid. Especially something that happened in the past. Like the old saying goes, let sleeping dogs lye. Sometimes people say things because they are jealous and want others to be as miserable as them. That's an awful situation.

I think they were just being "honest" and "open" but I think it was completely unnecessary!

Yeah. They should not have told your mom's family about their affair. What was the need to tell ? Its always better to think before saying anything, so that we don't end up hurting other people's feeling or making a fool out of ourselves...

Exactly, what was the point? Now I have certain members of mom's family resenting Dad and do I really need that?
