Last night I made dinner. I had chicken, and garlic bread and fresh tomatoes etc. You get the picture. Well I offered some of the tomatoes to my roomate. He declined. But then he says I like catsup and sphegetti sauce. Soup and marinara. Basically anything made from tomato. But tomatoes themselves he doesn't like. They make him"sick".

My sister has a brother in law that way he will eat everything tomatoes even canned diced tomatoes but won't eat a fresh tomato. How can someone love everything else about a tomato but not a fresh one. I love fresh garden tomatoes..to be they are the best.

That is an odd aversion. I think it is strange that he can have them all processed and mashed up but if he eats them in their most healthy form.. processing and mashing them up, he complains that they make him sick. I think raw tomatoes are healthy and it sounds like he's one of those people who avoids healthy food on 'principle.'

In a way I am like him. I do not like fresh tomatoes unless they are really ripe. If I order a hamburger and it comes with a kind of green tomato I remove it. Yuck! I also do not like salad dressing on them. If I have a salad with tomatoes I will remove them and then add the dressing. Just a little salt and pepper is all the tomatoes need.

Lol I think you just described me! I love pretty much anything tomato based, even tomato soup, but I don't like just plain tomatoes. I don't like things that have tomato chunks in it either, but just a tomato flavored sauce is ok with me. I've never really understood it myself, but I guess when the tomato flavor is mixed in with all the other ingredients and stuff, then I like it, but I just don't like the plain tomato taste all by itself.

I will eat ketchup, salsa, spaghetti sauce, chili with tomatoes in it, tomato soup, heck I will drink a glass of V8, but I hate to eat fresh tomatoes.

Oh my. I am in that situation with someone whom I have been with for 13 years. He would not eat raw tomatoes but he would eat pizza. What the heck? He doesn't eat most of the foods that I like since some are just stinky to him. I don't care. What he doesn't like is more for me and the kids. Ha ha. lol I don't like cucumbers if it is just by itself. I think I once ate it where someone had marinated the cucumber with some kind of vinegar and it tasted so good or was it some other kind of food that made me think it was cucumcer? Whatever the case may be, I am pretty much into eating almost anything. I don't like cucumbers by itself, not a fan of radish, onions all by itself with the exception of onion rings. I haven't had onion rings since who knows when. I'm chinese and it disturb me that sometimes, I am living with a bunch of white people whom I know doesn't ever have any asian friends. I sometimes feel like I am in the wrong family even though I get along with them fine with the exception of sometimes complaining what I am cooking due to the smell. I know way more white people that are so into chinese food than anything. And even the non whites that are into chinese foods too. Not to sound racists anyone.

I have a friend who does not want to see a tomato on his plate because he is really frightened of it, yet he is spaghetti carbonara. Your friend does not seem to be the only one who behaves like that.

My son is that way....he is actually allergic to tomatoes when they are not cooked. So he can eat anything with cooked tomatoes....also my brother in law once said that my house was the only one he could eat anything tomatoey.....turns out that in some of my recipies I use marjorium...which neutralizes the acid in the tomatoes.

I'm like that! I love tomato soup, ketchup etc but could never eat a whole tomato! I don't like the smell, or texture. I can eat tomatoes if they are cooked and chopped up, but couldn't eat a fresh one. I know a few people who feel like this!

My husband is like that. He will eat ketchup and sauce, but not tomatoes. He will eat apples but not applesauce but not apples. He will eat anything banana flavored, but not bananas themselves. There are many foods he is picky about, and for him it's mostly the texture of the foods.

Boyfriend and I are guilty of this one. Boyfriend is big on ketchup but it's rare to see him eat tomato pieces, no matter how small they are. Same goes for me. Boyfriend is also big on guacamole but would not touch an avocado. I keep telling him guacamole is mostly smashed avocado.

I am something like that. I am allergic to fresh tomatoes but I love catsup. I am allergic to fresh peaches and apples but I would fight someone for some peach or apple cobbler. Maybe it's the combination of things that make up the catsup or spaghetti sauce that he likes. Maybe it's the bitterness of the tomatoes that he doesn't like. Who knows.
