Hey all. I'm currently saving up money to buy something nice for myself, but sometimes I'm finding it hard and I keep using up my savings. Does anyone have tips for saving up money?

Yes i know how you feel, I have been dipping into the money I have been saving for my special little gift I buy myself for Christmas as well so I might have to make the camera I just bought my early christmas present, I will wrap it up in fancy paper and open it on Christmas day...

Haha, I've not heard of giving yourself a present on Christmas before.

Hi there Likaes. I try not to keep money with me and i noticed this generally works because if you don't have any money with you - you can't spend them, right ? I am the sort of persons that likes to save up money so that when i really want something i may be able to buy it.

Well I guess you could clip coupons for grocery items and those other things that you have to buy. Those will help out a bit. A few dollars a week is better than nothing. Then, try to limit the amount of times you go out during the week shopping. That will help you make less needless purchases. You should also cut back on your entertainment budget if you have one. You can find a lot of movies online if you look to watch so that way you're not spending money to go to the movies or something. And, the biggest thing you can do which is what I'm planning to do since I picked up a babysitting job is to pick an amount of money from your income each month and set it aside. Put it in a savings account or a piggy bank at home and don't touch it unless something comes up. I'm planning on putting aside a certain amount each week after I get paid. The rest is fair game for spending, but otherwise, the rest cannot be touched unless something comes up.

Are you a salaried person and have a regular type of job with some company or government. Just make voluntary deductions from your salary towards your provident fund.and in time to come it will become a regular feature and you will be having sufficient money for you to use for special purposes when you desire and you can withdraw it. It will also earn some interest for you too.
