When you listen to music, are you totally oblivious of surroundings?

I've seen a handful of teenagers listening to music while crossing the road. I think this is so dangerous. When you listen to music, you usually won't be able to hear cars honking at you. What are your opinions of this matter? How would you feel if your kids are like this too?

Where I live it is very congested and not the safest place either so it is not a good idea to listen to music when out in the streets. You need to pay attention or risk an accident or even getting robbed. I don't see many kids in my area doing this either, guess it depends where you live.

Actually, it's my boyfriend I worry about more! He really gets into his music. He doesn't hear or notice anything else when he's listening to it. Luckily, when he walks downtown, he usually doesn't take it with him!
