Okay, we have been seeing Rush Limbaugh in the news and on MyLot lately. What do you think about this radio talk show host?

I think people forget that he's a "talk show host" - an entertainer whose job it is to stir up controversy and challenge people. The more controversial he is, the more successful he is. He has almost zero credibility because his shtick is to inflame listeners (or empassion them, depending on which side of the equation you fall) in order to boost his own celebrity and ratings. Like most talk show hosts with a point of view, he routinely distorts issues and news, filtering it through his own perception. He almost invariably takes things out of context and twists them to present them as "evidence" for his viewpoint. Since he's in no way a journalist, he's allowed to do that. He's also allowed to only present one point of view on his show and to shout down and ridicule anyone who disagrees with him. It passes for entertainment, but it's certainly not education about the issues.

Great point! Some people, like my father, are brainwashed by people like him! They believe every single thing that comes out of his mouth and refuse to believe anything different. I've tried to listen to him, but I just can't.

Ha! My dad is a self-professed racist, fiscal conservative and solidly right-wing social Republican and HE can't stomach Limbaugh. That's gotta tell you something.

Right on Chameleon... I have the same problem with the fact that most of my family has been brainwashed into thinking the the right-wing is going to do something for them. I truely don't understand it but they don't read and look at the facts. They say "I saw it on Fox News" or heard it on so-and-so's radio show and therefore it is true. It is sooooo hard for me to understand people that take everything the hear as the truth and can see the obvious twisting.

Rush Limbaugh has literally accused Michael J. Fox of faking his Parkinson's disease, saying that it is clearly "an act". That ought to give you an idea of the caliber of his character. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFFmRdJwWFQ

I never could stand Limbaugh long before the Michael J. Fox incident but that really turned me totally against him. After that disgusting display he lost all credibility nd even the right to be called a human being. When I see someone here post a link with something he's said that poster also proves to have no credibility. Annie

I saw that about Limbaugh accusing Michael J. Fox of faking Parkinson. This guy would actually be funny if so many people didn't actually believe him. That part is very scary.

Rush is great. From his progarm I have learned much about the difference between a conservative and a liberal. The ideas he promotes are clearly the best for the country and that is why he has such a huge audience. Part of his style is entertainment, but he could not be more serious and sincere about the things he says. djbtol

Rush Limbaugh is a bona fide moron as far as I'm concerned. At least twice a week I turn on talk radio at my office and he's on, and I always get irritated, and ask "why did I attempt to listen to this garbage". Some of the things that he says makes absolutely no sense. He was on the Obama supporters think their "Messiah", meaning Obama, kick the other day. Anyone that listens to this guy and thinks he an authority in the least bit on the issues, instead of being just another entertainer needs their head looked at.

Rush is purely an entertainer, just like Krusty the Clown from the Simpsons. I don't listen to him, and I don't believe one word that he says. I find it so funny to hear republicans get upset when movie stars, and musicians use their first amendment of the constitution, but when Rush (who has stated, when ever he gets in trouble, that he is only an entertainer)opens his mouth they never say he is just an entertainer. But, what do you expect from republicans?

TGD, I find it especially funny when some Republicans make those comments about "just entertainers". To which party did Ronald Reagan belong? Sonny Bono? Arnold Schwarzenegger? They're only "just entertainers" when they're on the OTHER side.
