Are we headed towards Extinction?

United States

Hi, everyone I have really been worried about the changes in climiate. I personally believe that we have triggered a climate shift that will lead to a extinction. Now I know some think its just something the planet goes through and that is in part true but it normally takes Millions if not hundreds of millions for it to happen. Do you personally think that we have caused a planetary shift? Also do you think man will become extinct? and if so do you think it can reversed or have we done to much damage and its just a matter of time? Oh on a side note we would be the 6th extinction!

I've seen alot of articles on global warming and such...I haven't really delved into it so I won't get into a discussion about it. As for extinction, I don't see that happening. There are far too many ppl in this world for the entire population to become extinct. There may be areas that ppl leave for warmer climates or some that even become uninhabitable but I don't see everyone dying off. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

To the best of my knowledge, there were only two times that the earth was supposed to be wiped clear...the whole Noah's Ark and the last Ice Age. As for the flooding, that's a Bible story and even if it did happen, which although I believe it did others don't, there were more then enough animals and ppl on the boat to repopulate the earth. As for the Ice Age...I don't know alot about it but I would figure that there had to be some life forms regardless of how small still alive. I don't see either one of these things happening again. God already said he wouldn't flood the earth again and if the Ice Age starts again, I think alot of ppl will head to the South Pole. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

No there has been five extinctions 1. Cretaceua - Teritary 65 million years ago thought to be caused by a astroid killed half the animal population 2.Triassic extinction - 199 - 214 mill thought to be caused by floods and volcanic erruption killed large portion of life and is thought to have started a global warming cycle 3.Permian - 251 million years ago killed 95% of life caused by astroid and earths worst extinction! 4.Devonian - 364 million about half the animal population cause unknown 5. Ordovician - 439 million caused by drop then rise in sea level 60% global extinction Something always survived but many times due to the lact of food the remaining would die out. What normally survived these events were plant or very low levels of sea life.

Thats what I lean towards but with all the other extinctions life was completely wiped off the planet I mean there were some lower forms of life that survived, but not the things that made up the bulk of the population (or the top of the food chain) Those beings (creatures) were wiped clean. I start to wonder if this is how the earth purges itself of things that are damaging it?

If we are, I am okay with that. It means that I will not have to pay taxes anymore. Take that government jerks! No, but in all seriousness, yes, we might be headed towards one and we need to do what we can to save our planet if it can be saved.

Then the best thing for us to do is stop breeding, or limit our breeding habits.

Personally I think the planet saves itself. When it reaches its limits it kinda purges whatever is ailing it. That would be us !

i think we all will be extinct soon or later.. the only thing that can save us from that will never be done. Its a solution i have to save the whole planet -shut down every single thing that make combustion turn of cars forever and factories also power plants shut down and turn back like we was 200 years ago,,then that will be the planet cure to avoid extinction,,,it sounds weird nonsense but is the only way out,,,think deep in what i said and you will see im right. Also is nice to have you back,,i missed you a ton where had you been all this time. do you remember me??

Hi friend, yes I remember you! I got banned 4 months ago for no apparent reason. One day it let me log on but not post and then I couldn't log on. I emailed administration and they would not answer.. I gave up and did not feel like starting up again. But eventually I came back. I am not sure if administration if even reading emails anymore to be honest with you. and the only thing I could link it too is I started a topic on gay marriage (I support) and it was deleated next day I was banned! Oh Well, Rachel

Ah you all should move to Manitoba where global warming does not exist. It will be hot everywhere else, but we still will get minus 40 degrees in January. Actually global warming is not caused by man, it is caused by God. Our planet goes through these cycles. Ah but extinction. There is a cause and effect. If you kill off children before the womb, then what if those who are not killed are not strong enough to survive? I mean supposing the aborted babies are the kind that have long lived genes and are very fertile, and the ones left alive are prone to diabetes and heart condition and unless they are careful may not survive past forty? What if there is a war and the enemy decides to kill off the young and the healthy? What if we are persuaded as in Europe of not having any children or one? So there is more ways to extinguish the human race other than turning the furnace on during the winter. Also there is the Christ returning in the clouds, and the Earth heating up and all life except for those whom God saves dying. Now if this Global Warming is not from man, but from God, it could be that HE is causing the earth to get warmer.and wait until winter. If we have an uusually cold winter, no more global warming. Oh we did have a period of global cooling, but I guess everyone loves snow and extremely cold periods more than I do. Well it is nice in Manitoba in the winter, with all that snow and no global warming.

do you think god caused all of the 5 other extinctions as well?

Eventually. And I don't think any changes we make now will make much difference. Though hopefully it will be a long time from now...

I think changes would help. I think we may have started something, with the excessive use of fossile fuels that probably is unstoppable. But I think we can slow it down or speed it up depending on what we do. That includes offshore drilling!
