citizenship

i 've been in this country for 24 years.
i'm not a citizen, but a permanent resident alien.
i work pay taxes and social security
and everything else.
one of my friends became a citizen a couple month ago.
she says she feels better knowing they can't send her back to mexico.
it.s 600 dollars just about.
sometimes i get scared too.
all my family is in germany, but my live is here.
should i do it.
i can do anything without beeing a citizen, exept vote
and maybe thats a good thing?

My husband has been in this country for about 12 years. We have been married for four years. He is not a citizen. It is a big headache. We have paid thousands of dollars and been fighting for four years. Still he is not a citizen. I will be glad when it is all over.
