Now that the flu season is approaching do you go for a flu shot or do not believe in them? There are many people who get a flu shot every year and their are others who feel they do not work in protecting you from getting the flu. Will you be getting one this year?

I have never had a flu shot . I am nervous of needled so have never had one before but last year I had discussed this with my husband as I wanted him and the chidlren to go for one . My husband has asthma really bad and when he gets a bout of the flu it really affects his breathing and I have noticed that at the pharmacy it shows that if someone has asthma they should get a flu shot and the shot would be free . He said he would go if I agreed to go too . Needless to say none of us went . I might bring it up to him again but I don't think he would go even if I went because he is scared of needles .

I understand how some people are very scared of getting needles. I agree with you about your husband getting one but he too is afraid of the needles. Hope your flu free this year.

Get your Flu Shot!!! - It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to Flu shots!!!
I HATE NEEDLES!!! One thing I've learned is go to the Health Department for your Flu shot as they give better shots!!!!!!NEVER let your doctor give you a shot. INSIST that his Nurse give it to you. Nurses learn how to give shots in training...doctors DON'T!!!

In January of 07 while in the hospital for double pneumonia I was given a pneumonia shot and a flu shot. Last Octorber I got a flu shot and I plan to get one again this year. I sure don't want to end up in the hospital again.

hello howard i have had one flu shot before in my lifetime and that was a couple of years ago. i need to get another flu shot this year, but i do not know if i will make it downtown to the clinic that gives the flu shots or not. the clinics around here usually run out of the flu shots before i get a chance to get mine. lol you know? i think that at the clinic downtown where that i go, they charge ten dollars to get a flu shot, plus my gas to get downtown on top of that. but when i did get that flu shot that year, as i re-call, i didn't even have a cold or anything that winter. so yeah, i do need to make it downtown this year again to get my flu shot. ouchie! have a beautiful day today!

I am very fortunate in that I seem to escape getting the flu, I put that down to my exercise and eating regime, I think I must sweat all the germs and bugs out of me when I do my training 5 times a week, since doing my routine I haven't had the flu or any other nasty virus or bug, (touches wood!) but I don't think I would go for a flu jab regardless unless I was much much older than I am now.

I've had a flu shot for the last few years. Still caught a cold that turned into bronchitis and eventually pneumonia but never the actual flu bug. This only happened one year during the flu season. I will get a shot as soon as they are offered either by our insurance company or my husband's office. I am all for letting someone else pick up the tab!

Hi howard, I and the rest of the family are not getting any shots for this...We just eat a lot of vegetables as well as drink tea and milk..I am sure this is effective also to have a strong immune system!

I've never gotten one before but last year I was so deathly sick that Hubby and I decided that this year I'd get one. Hopefully it will keep me from getting sick again. Every year I end up with pneumonia, strep throat and bronchitis...last year I ended up at the hospital with it on Christmas night. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I hope you do not get the flu this year. I know if I don't get the shot I wind up getting sick so I make sure I get it every year. My appointment is Oct. 09 and I want to get it early because they always run out.

No, I will not be getting a flu shot. First off, they're only effective against certain strains of the flu, and it seems the great "they" never seem to pick the right ones, anyway. But secondly, and more importantly, I don't get the flu. At least not for 20 years now. At that time I was overworked, very stressed out due to politics at work and not sleeping much, so my defenses were down.

The years she didn't get a shot, guess what? she didn't get the flu...I've heard this isn't a isolated case..a lot of people who get the flu shot get the flu...like duh?

We don't get the flu shot in our house. Louise is allergic to Eggs(which is where they culture the vaccine) so she can't have it. I don't get the flu. I had it as a small child once and again about 9 years ago it put me down for over 2 weeks. The shot wouldn't have helped. All but 2 people in my company got it and more htna half of them had had the shot. When my gall bladder went bad the hospital offered it to me twice. Once from a nurse and once from a doctor. Given my age i can easily survive the bug if I get it and given the odds of my getting it they saw no more sense in my getting it than I did. I do recomend it for folks at risk or who have age or health considerations that could make the flu deadly. In the meantime I get colds and the occasional stomache "flu" that the shot doesn't help. interesting note. We never had vaccine shortages until the government took of=ver procurement to "ensure every american had access" Now we run out every year.

I do believe in flu shots and yes I will be getting one this year. In my opinion prevention is better than cure. I d prefer to be given a flu shot and it does not work out than not to be vaccinated at all.

I have been getting to flu shot for the last three years. Last year after I got the flu shot I still got really sick I had bronchitis and hade to go to the doctor two different times. The first time I got pills and they did not help so when I went back to see the doctor I got a shot. That took care of it. So I dont no if the flu shot really helps or not. My husband dont get it and he never gets sick.I guess he's just lucky.

we have different schedules on when to take flu shots howard. in our country flu shots are given every february. i make it a point to save for my children's flu shot but i dont get mine . i only save for them. it is kind of expensive so my thinking is it is better for them not to get sick. as you know i have four children and i love them very dearly. i dont like them to get sick for treating a sick person is far more expensive than having the shot.

Hiya howard.. I've never ever gotten a flu shot and have no plans of getting it in the future. Both hubby and daughter got it once and I had 2 kids who were so sick afterwards that they stayed home from school and work for a whole week while I nursed them back to health. Never again will they get it either.

I think the flu changes every year. Perhaps you can have some protection if you have the flu shot. But it can not totally ensure you will be safe. I never want to have a shot which is not necessary. If a doctor needs me to have a shot, then I have to accept to it. If it's not in the list, usually I won't take any extra shots. I want my body to have some protection. If I have to depend on the medicine all the time, it won't be good. I love China
