I'll travel to Tunisia next week for the first time and I'll be staying in hotel in Hammamet. Can you give me some info about Tunisia to prepare myself properly? How's food, what clothes to take, where to go out and stuff like that. I'm planning to go to safari. Any experience?

Although I saw your discussion so late (3 months), I decided to write a few words. I was in Tunisia in 2006 and I must say I loved it very much. I visited almost everything except the city of Tunis and the Djerba island. Tunisians mainly live from two things. Tourism and the cultivation of olives. It's a Arabic country so if you haven't the opportunity to visit one of these before, this will be quite an experience for you. I really hope you have visited the Colosseum although you have one too in Croatia, in Pula. I was curious if you had visited them both, which one is bigger. I was in a jeep safari too, visited the place where George Lucas had his location for the Star Wars movie, and after that we visited the two Oasis Tarmeza, and Chebika. i am looking forward for your answer and your impression about Tunisia.
If you had your flight landing at Monastir airport, the transfer time took you more of an hour because the Monastir airport is about 60 70 km from Yasmine-Hammamet.

Unfortunately I haven't seen much. I went with my mates and we end up more partying than sightseeing. But it was great. I've been to Carthage and Tunis. About Tunis, you didn't miss anything. Tunis itself is nice but the medina is crowded that is hard to walk and smells terribly so I just wished to leave regardless of nice monuments.
I regret I didn't went on safari (my friends didn't want to go cause they thought it's expensive and I didn't want to go alone) but all in all the trip was great.
