We’ve all stepped on things at some point in our lives. I’m really good about it…I’ve had a fishing hook, a roofing tack, glass, slivers, and sewing needles just to name a few. The fishing hook was the first thing when I was about 8…I was playing in the yard and stepped on it. My Dad had to pull it out and I was crying asking him to cut my foot off instead…I figured it would hurt a lot less then pulling out the hook…hey, I was 8. The roofing tack was about 10 years ago while I mowing. I was wearing a pair of thin deck shoes and stepped right on it…it was old and rusty too so off to the hospital. They had to cut the shoe off b/c the tack went right into the center of my foot and speared the shoe right to the foot nice and tight…I thought I was gonna die for sure with that one… I don’t know what’s worse pulling it out or leaving it in. Most of the time I’m pretty careful but every once in a while I step on something. I actually prefer to pull it out myself now. What’s the worse thing you’ve stepped on and how hard was it to get it out? Are you accident-prone when it comes to stepping on things or is it a rarity with you? Do you prefer to pull it out or let someone else pull it out? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

The Feet - The feel so much pain and drama
I can only remember 4 things I stepped on in the past. Not in exact order was to long ago to remember how old I was. We went boating and I got to hold the rope as my dad went to park the truck after unloading the boat so I was walking along the shore as the boat drifted not looking down and no shoes on Istepped on a dried catfish head and the whisker went in my foot. Those things hurt. Dad pulled it out and that was it. Have stepped on a rusty nail barefoot off to the hospital we went for a shot. These last two were the worst for me. We were playing tag in the yard and I stepped on a bat that was deadwith it's mouth open and i had to go to the hospital and theywer talking about rabbie shots and me being a kid I was crying because i heard those hurt and well you know how it is you think everythings gunna kill ya if it hurts. Thank God the bat was to far gone to have to worry about rabbies...whew....Then there was the needle I stepped on half of it broke off in my foot and my dad tried to get it out and I was crying and well had to go in and have it cut out. they cut it out and I got 3 stitches....did i learn to wear my shoes after all this...ummmm no i still to this day go barefoot a lot. lol

I've stepped on a brier outside before,or a piece of glass from something broken in the floor. But my problem is breaking bones in my feet. I once broke my foot by stepping out on my back door steps and hanging my foot off the edge wrong. Then, I have run into something with my left foot, breaking the same toe twice. Then, just other day, I ran that same toe into something else! That is more a problem to me with my feet than stepping on something. And I do go barefoot all the time in the house, and go outside lots barefoot, too.

Luckly I've never broken a bone before. There's been alot of times that I should have but haven't...maybe it's all the milk I tend to drink...hopefully I won't have a bone problem when I get older. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Don't think drinking milk had a thing to do with me breaking my toe or foot. I drink milk like it's going out of style. It was just a mishap. I also broke my hip 7 mos ago the 29th of Sept. That was a very freak accident. Had to have a full hip replacement. But it had nothing to do with osteoporosis either. The surgeon who did the hip replacement said he would have thought I was eat up with it but found exactly none. I just took a very hard hit directly on the hip on a concrete floor.

Even though I hate shoes and wear them as little as I can I am pretty lucky about not stepping on things. I have stepped on some pretty mean sticker burrs that have been almost impossible to pull out, like the fish hook they seem to have a hook on the end that don't want to pull out easily. I have also stepped in small pieces of glass and small pieces of shaved metal but the sticker burrs are the worse for me.

I've never heard of sticker burrs but they don't sound like a good thing to step on. If they have a hook in the end like the fish hook, I can imagine the pain. I remember it took forever to get that hook out b/c it was curved and had to be worked out and not just yanked. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have stepped on everything from glass to rusty nails to thorns to legos and they all hurt, I can't tell you what was worse..As for taking something out of mt foot, I prefer to do it, can't stand to have anyone pull things out that are embedded in unless they give me something for the pain...The hook you stepped on, now that would probably be my worse, if I had, because of the extra little piece..

When I was growing up, I hated shoes...oh, wait! I still do! lol The first thing I don't really remember, but my Mom's told me about it plenty of times (and told my daughter). I had a pretty big splinter stuck all the way in my foot. I was about 3 or 4. I would not let her get it out (I screamed and cried). One of her friends at work told her to wait until I went to sleep. She said she didn't think that would work, but she tried it anyway. It worked. I never woke up. lol I've had bruises from stepping on rocks while I was running. Lots of sand burrs! Once I jumped off a friends porch onto a broken gallon milk jug (glass). I had a deep cut from my little toe to the inside of the ball of my foot. That was an ugly one...I thought it never would stop bleeding. Stitches in that one! I stepped on a roofing tack, too, and it went pretty much all the way in my heel. My Mom found me sitting on the back steps, crying and trying to pull it out very slowly. She convinced me that she could pull it out really fast and it wouldn't hurt as much. She was right! lol When I was about 10, a lot had been cleared for the building of several stores. I had been raining and it was really muddy...lots of pretty red mud. lol I thought it would be a great idea to walk across it. It was probably about 300 feet, maybe more. The mud was up to my knees. About half the way across, I stepped on something sharp and cut my foot. I lifted my leg out and yes, there was blood pouring through the mud on the arch of my foot. I thought my Mom would kill me for this one. I was fine and she didn't. It just hurt a lot. Oh, and let's not forget bees! Lots of bee stings! And one thing I don't know what it was - it had gotten dark and I was playing out in the street with a bunch of other kids. Mom called me, and instead of running up the sidewalk to the house, I ran through the yard. Something felt like it shot fire into my foot. I knew it wasn't a bee sting. Wow! It hurt. There was no stinger left in my foot at all. Mom put ice on it and thought I was fine. When I woke up the next morning, both my eyes were swelled shut. So whatever it was, I'm allergic. Evidently I have never been stung by one again. I guess it could have been a hornet or something. And not to forget all the stumped toes! That just made me remember when once when I was about 11, my closet door was stuck. I stood right in front of it and gave it a big pull! Right over my big toe. I ended up losing that toenail. Thankfully, a brand new one grew before the purple and black one fell off! lol No wonder now that I'm older my feet hurt! lol

twoeyes I have stepped on glass at the beach, stepped on a jellyfish with lots of pain, stepped on slivers but stepping on a rusty nail in a motel sent me to the hospital with blood poisoning for sure. painful days for sure. Then again I dropped a gallon can of paint on my foot and broke a toe, and that was also rather painful for six weeks. Now i am sure to wear shoes even] in the house.

I've heard jellyfish are horrible to step on. I've come close to dropping things on my feet...just the other day I almost dropped a can of fruit on my foot but pulled it back quick enough. Which got me thinking about feet and so here's the discussion LOL **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Yes, they say that the feet are the most neglected part of our body since it carries our weight and most of the times this is the first one to receive injury when walking, running or just plain standing. I have my fair share of it, but I guess my foot has withstand almost everything I need to since they are still there for me.

not much of accident prone when it comes to feet but I usually walks barefoot at home and sometimes I do step on either my cat's vomit (sometimes she is sick or just eating too much too fast) or some screws popping up need to be hammered down, usually between the edge of the carpet and the door step other than that sometimes just dry bread crumbs or cereals from breakfast but after cleaning the house I rarely step on anything that will hurt also if I break anything made of glass I always go get my sandals before cleaning the floor

I have been pretty lucky in that I have been very careful with my feet and so have not really stepped on much. I have stepped on a drawing pin, that hurt less than it should because I had hard skin on my feet then. I have also stepped on a piece of glass and that hurt. I have always had to pull it out myself as there was only me that lived with me!

I've hurt myself a lot in my lifetime but thankfully, I've never stepped on anything as worse as a fishing hook. I actually winced when I typed fishing hook. I've stepped on pins but they were not that bad. I prefer to pull them out myself but there were times it was hard for me to reach them so I had someone else do the dirty job. I went snorkeling with close friends and one of them was too excited that she jumped from the boat right away not realizing that the coral reef was only a few feet off... so she was only in the water for a few minutes and she had to stay in the boat the whole time because her foot was bleeding from stepping on one of the corals.

When i accidentally step into something i prefer to pull it myself. It is painful the last time i step on a sharp object. It really freak me out at first but i dont want anybody to pull it since it makes me feel like the pain will be worst if someone else is going to pull it. So i pull it fast so i wont feel the pain that much. And since that incident happen i never walk barefooted anymore.

Yes, I stepped on an upholstery needle when I was ten and in trying to pull it out it broke off in my foot. Not just in my flesh but in my vein and with each heart beat it traveled upward. I had to have emergency surgery stat meaning no time for pain meds just about six nurses holding me down. The first incision they couldn't find it and had to make another. Thankfully they found it after some exploration. Funny thing was many years later I broke my little toe on the stove cooking dinner no doubt and the x-rays showed a little piece of metal trapped at my ankle. I stepped on a tiny sliver of glass which I could not retrieve and in 24 hours had blood poising. That had to be cut out on the er table too, ouch; my poor feet. I wear shoes now, even in the house. I often think of the children in poor communities who have no shoes and wish I could give them mine.
