Ginger was first discovered in China many centuries ago and it has been used ever since as a natural remedy as well as a deliciously tasty food. Ginger's main benefit is its ability to sooth stomach and digestion problems, although some people also reach for the ginger as soon as they feel a migraine coming on. Research has shown that ginger is particularly effective at alleviating feelings of nausea and sickness. If you tend to feel unwell when flying,a dose of ginger before you go can really make a difference. Ginger can also be taken to boost circulation and to sooth or calm everything from a sore throat to inflamed skin. Ginger, either freshly grated or powdered, taken as a tea induces sweating and elimination. Hot ginger tea also supports and tonifies the stomach, spleen and large intestine and it improves bowel function. Available from you grocer or supermarket as fresh root, ginger powder or tincture It's great to start to take natural remedies so much more seriously

Thank you for the information on Ginger, I have several articles on home remedies I guess I need to start paying more attention to them. I have some Ginger and I didn't know all this about it. The info you gave is real good and useful to me. I wish I had known this 2 days ago, I am having problems with my stomach, I think it is more stress related, it didn't start bothering me until they announce that the company I work for is closing its doors and shutting down at the end of the year. And 176 people will loose their job. I am one of those 176.

Great Roshand! So ginger can give those other wonderful remedies? I am frequently taking salabat because my throat has always been inflamed especially when I do a lot of talking and singing (Ha!ha!ha!) So that means while I am taking salabat to heal my throat, I am also at the same time getting other benefits like what you stated : supports and tonifies the stomach, spleen and large intestine and it improves bowel function, etc. I am happy to know that! Thanks Roshand. I really love natural remedies!

I had a landlady who swore by ginger. She used to make a drink out of ginger and drank it by the bottle. She said it helps cure her arthritis and maybe it does. I know Chinese cooks use it in cooking and here in Trinidad all the old time cooks use it with their food.

I love the ginger served at a thai restaurant, it is a small portion and I usually get it with a bowl of rice with beef. Very good :) It is very strong tho, I guess that is why the portion is small.

Hi roshand8 When I first found out I was pregnant with my first child my midwife actually said to me that if I suffer with morning sickness then to try and eat some ginger biscuits. My kids get cronic travel sickness in the car but I can't get them to eat ginger biscuits because I think the flavour is a bit too strong for them and they are only young. I am hoping they will grow out of it! Thanks again for your tips!!

ginger is used as an antacid because it blocks the breakdown of pepsinogen to pepsin-pepsin irratitates the tissues and causes peptic ulcers.add 3 or 4 tablespoons to bath water and it will help rid the body of waste and toxins by opening the pores.ginger is especially good for colon gas when taken before each meal.it acts as a catalyst to the pelvic area.(good for childhood diseases, and morning sickness).

Thank you so much roshand for your insight on the spice of ginger. I can't say that I have any in my spice cabinet right now but I am going to consider getting some at my local supermarket. I believe I have heard of some of the benefits of ginger especially for health. You have mentioned quite a few tips here that I have not heard of before like the fact that ginger can soothe feelings of nausea and sickness. I have had ginger root before in a Chinese buffet before. I like it.

Roshand8, Wow, i can not thank you enough for posting this message, i have dealt with migraines for 20 years with no luck of a cure or aide in the agonizing pain and illness that comes along with it. Now being pregnant it isnt like i can just take some medicine or something so this is relief to know and i really hope that it works because migraines for me have me bed ridden and dealing with this nausea is a burger too so thank you so much for posting this message about ginger. Any advice for a natural remedy on pain from a spinal injury? Thanks
