are you the one who put down the phone first or the person on the other line?

heller!^^ - talking on the phone..

I do answer calls everyday here in the office. I let the caller put the phone down, since I think it is a sign of respect for the clients who are calling , and I just don't want them to feel that I am in a hurry putting the phone down. but whenever someone is calling me on my cellphone, I don't wait for them to put down the phone. when I say "bye!", then I'll put it down immediately, whether it's an important calls or not. how about you? do you put down the phone first? or do you let the person on the other line do that job? thanks for sharing!

NO matter how or whoever called, regardless it's for me or not, i will always let them hang up 1st b4 i do so ^_^ Like u, i see it as a sign of respect, and even when i called others, i will also make sure that i hang up after them ^_^ Even in texting, i will also make sure that i'm the one who will end the whole texting by sending the last message too.. lol =D I also dunno y, i must be the last for everything concerning these things, maybe it's my character?? lol

I don't usually get calls on my mobile phone but, whenever I do and the conversation is going to end, if I'm the one who says 'bye' I'm the one who also puts down the phone first. On land lines, I usually wait for the caller to drop their phones before I do. Just making sure that they're no longer there before I drop the phone.. even when I'm the one who called first or the one who said 'bye'

Well, I'm always the one who will put down the phone when evertime I said "bye".. I don't wait them to put the call down, I immediately put it down.. And besides I don't think that I disrespect them since I already said "bye" and he/she also said "bye" so that's clear that whether which among us will put the phone down.. I am not doing this because I'm in a hurry but I just do it just because our conversation is already over.. On the other hand, in the office I don't usually answer calls but sometimes if I am alone in our department then that's the time I answer calls.. Same as i usually did, I am the one who will put down the phone when they said already thank you or bye.. I don't wait them to put the phone down since sometimes they will make another call..

yeah. but sometimes if they'll forgot to say something and you already say bye to each other, they will sometimes "hey wait!wait!".. something like that.. I am avoiding that kind of situation.

No I wait for the other person to hang up in case they have something else to say and I hang up on them and miss what they were saying. It is habit I think that I wait for them to hang up. I only hang up first if I am mad at the person and then I dont' just hang up first I hang up on them completly.

LOL. me too. if I am mad, or not in the mood to speak, I sometimes put down the phone even if we're not yet done with the conversation., I know, it isn't the the right thing to do.. but I can't help it when I am mad.

When I was having my practicum in Edsa Shangri-La, I always let the person who called put down the phone first but if it's my personal call from my cell phone, I always say "bye" first and hang up right after.

it depends actually but most of the time i let them hung up first...on my case since my BF is in US its so hard to put the phone down so i let him do it...but at times when we were fighting over the phone i usually hung up just to cut it off...

well, it depends on who call. if i receive a call, i will let the caller put down the phone when they finish talking. but if i call her/him, i will put it down first after the messages is well delivering. i also used to answer phone call in my office, so i think what you mentioned is absolutely right and i also practice that. for the cellphone, i do almost the same. if i answer a call, i will let it show the notification 'call ended' before put it down.

Wow this is a good topic. Yeah I remember that I want my caller or the ones that Im talking to put down the phone first. I dont know why I'm like this, maybe because I got used to it particularly when I was in my single days talking to former girlfriends. I kinda find it difficult to hang up first because I somehow find it offensive and rude. Weird huh. The only time that I hang up first is when I get pissed and get mad at someone on the other line. I find it waste of time and energy whenever you get into heated conversations.

I guess it isn't a weird attitude. that's nice, and I guess that's the right thing to do. let the person who calls, especially the girls put down the phone first."lady's first" as they say. yeah. same here. if I got pissed off, whey the heck will I let him/her put down the phone first?right?

Phone Calls - -
The rule of thumb is whoever starts or initiates the call should be the first one to hang up the phone. Because if you are the on the receiving end you won't know if the caller has more things to say. I think it is ideal and it is what I do.

I hang up on everyone after I say bye except for my husband , with him I wait til he hangs up first . I am not sure why I do this but it has always been that way with us . When we first started dating it would take forever to get off the phone with him because he knew I wouldn't hang up first and he would keep saying bye but not hang up the phone :)

it depends on whether who ends the call first or not, if i ended the call first it is understood that i will be putting the phone down first too and vise versa.

It depends, if i was the one who made the phone call i will be the first to put the phone down without waiting for the other line to hang up. But they were the one who made the phone call i am the one who waits until they put the phone down. I don't know but it became a habit for me. Happy mylotting!

I do that sometimes. In most cases, I am the one who put down the phone late. For me, it serves as a courtesy to the person on the other line. You might not know that he or she will still have questions to you. It's a good habit to do.

Well, it depends upon the situation. I put down the phone first if the conversation is not important or if the person calling me is just disturbing me. If ever the caller has important reasons in calling me, then I will let him put down his phone first. If I will put down my phone first maybe they might get insulted. I don't want that to happen.
