Ok i wonder how many of you have watched this movie called NET 2.0 but while watching this movie,it struck me,as to whether such a thing can actually happen.Well for those who have not watched the movie, will just brief you on the story. It is based on one computer professional female 'Hope' who goes to Turkey for her new job.But when she reaches there, things take a turn. Her identity is stolen, she is framed for robbing a bank, for killing the taxi driver who guided her through Turkey.Another con female poses as her,and replaces her in the office that Hope was supposed to start work in.And then all of a sudden all the people that she talked with or met before refrain from even meeting her.And the police is searching for this female. And yes this female does try to find out who did this, why did they do it,but eventually is caught. So what i would like to know is What if identity theft happened to you,in a country you have never been before. What if you were falsely framed for murder, robbing the bank. How would you prove your innocence, would you give up,lose your mind(remember everyone will deny who you are, will not believe you.)Or would you somehow fight this off

This is an awful thing. It is far more common than we realize though. I got a call from my bank awhile back asking me if I had been overseas recently. I told them that I have never traveled outside the country. They proceeded to tell me that someone had used my debit card overseas. The problem was I had my debit card and it had never been lost. Someone had somehow managed to get the numbers and to use the card. They immediately cancelled the card, closed the account, and reopened a new one for me. But, it was rather scary that someone could manage to do that from in another country.

Ohh hope not much cash was debited from your account.Well these crooks must be having their network, that is why some form another country was able to get your confidential details. It is really scary, when your identity is stolen, you are held responsible for something you have not done. All i can say is that we should be cautious while using credit/debit or such cards

This is far more common than a lot of people realize. Maybe not quite to the extent of the movie you have seen but there are people that practically make a living out of stealing other people's identities and applying for credit etc. Next thing they know, these poor people end up defaulting on loans or cards they never even knew they had! Most of this activity is faceless though. If it happened to me all I could hope is that I was able to collate enough supporting evidence to prove my innocence. If it was something as bad as the case in Net 2.0 then I too would want to try to clear my name and get to the bottom of it just like she did; but of course this is a movie! In real life if this were to happen, we had better start praying instead I think! lol.

Yes James you are absolutely right, many people have been the victims of identity theft, and it has been going for quite sometime now.So that is why we should always be careful whenever it comes to confidential matters, try and not be part of the phishing scam. And if the same incident happened to me in the movie,I would definitely have freaked my head out.
