If that truly is the case, then I'm inclined to think that I'm being punished because I'm a strong, independent, self sufficent woman. I've endured quite a lot in my 37 years, more than the average person. Maybe that's God's way of telling me that I need to not be so strong? Maybe if I were a dimunitive little mouse of a woman, catastrophes wouldn't happen to me as often as they would?

To be grateful to God, I think that is more important. If I am struggling I still have to say thank you. If I am not, I will say thank you more. Life is very simple, some people try to complicate it.

Life is quite simple. It gets complicated when we forget what our true purpose is. Jealousy, greed, oneupmanship, and the pursuit of the all mighty dollar are just a few of the things that complicate life. Each struggle we face is a chance for us to teach. And every time we find ourselves with more than we need is a chance for us to share. And every time we find ourselves with more than we can handle is a chance for us to learn. If we all lived by those rules, the world would truly be a wondorous place.

It is not because we don't have a major problem God does not trust our abilities. God is not finished with us yet. If we our sailing so smoothly, who would ask for a storm.

Maybe you need to think of life as 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to what happens to you...

I'm in total agreement with you. I feel that how one responds to a circumstance is far more important than the circumstance itself. I've for the most part, handle life's little challenges with as much dignity, grace, and humor as possible. I just find that saying to be somewhat biased. My mom is someone who constantly says that to me, and she always follows it up with, "And Lord knows you can handle anything." I think that's a testament to the strong will she instilled in me. I posted that as more of a tongue in cheek kind of thing, I'm not one to be too serious.

"God only gives you what you can handle" seems to me something that friends and family tell you to give you comfort and keep you strong. It does work but I can imagine having a lot of struggles and hardships can make anyone tired. Good luck.
