She has developed a habit of playing with her hair at school. Now I know at 5, she thinks she is a big girl. I fix her hair every morning. By the time she gets off the bus in the afternoon she looks like a cross between having been in a tornado, and Cousin IT. How do I get her to leave her hair alone long enough for pictures? Especially if I am not there to supervise?

Today when she gets home from school take a picture of her with her hair all messed up. Show her the picture and ask her if she really wants everyone she knows to have a picture of her with her hair looking like that. Chances are she will not. Maybe that will be enough of a motivator to keep her from messing with it for one day at least.

That must be a tough one. Perhaps your little girl has too much rambunctious tom boy in here. Best of luck.

That is hard to accomplish. My sister had her picture day 2 weeks ago and I fixed her hair so pretty even curled it and used mousse. But I don't know how they do it but she always comes home with her hair down and windblown all over the place in other words like a tornado raced through it..lol I think that is why they try to get the young children first to do their pictures so they won't have to worry about recess or nap hair. Maybe mousse would work in keeping the file aways down and sleek. You could talk to the teacher she might be of some help in fixing their hair a bit.

Let her know that if her hair looks the same as you did it, when she gets home, that she will be rewarded, and that if she does play with her hair, everyone will be seeing these pictures, and [ask her if she wants to look like cousin it

The schools will usually fix a child's hair for them just before pictures are taken. My daughter had the same problem last year until I cut her hair real short. I would put it up in a pony tail and by the end of the day it was a horrid mess. But on picture day the school had a mass of combs and they would comb each child's hair just before the pic was taken, and for girls if their hair was supposed to be up they would do their best to get it back up.
