Why do Mondays always seem to be such a miserable day?

I think that for me Mondays have to be the most horriblest (is that right?) day of the week, they really suck! Actually, I should say Monday evening because the day time is fine, but as soon as I pick the kids up from school in the afternoon and get back home it just erupts into fighting and screaming and shouting. No one gets on, no one wants to do anything and the kids just seem to spend the evening crying and bawling and telling me that I do not love them because I have to tell them off for something. By the time my hubby gets home from work, I am on such a downer that I bet he wishes he could sleep over at work. Today I think I have threatened to leave twice so far, and sometimes I wish I could especially on a Monday!! I think I am going to get a tree house put in the garden and use it as time out for myself when they start!! Does anyone else have this problem with overtired kids on a Monday?

I think I have all this to come, especially when I have kids. Mondays aren't a problem for me as I finish at 6pm them meet my BF and friends in the pub. I would suggest putting your tree house up and sending the kids out there and it will be more effective as a time out zone!!! lol I think its because they have had a relaxing weekend, gone to school and the excitement of being back at school with their friends has stirred them up so they come home all rowdy!! Threaten them with Supernanny! lol

Yeah you do! That is something to look forward too!! Hey supernanny has nothing on me when I get going, I just cannot deal with it on a monday!

I think I have a head start being a nursery nurse - plus BF said he wanted to be a house husband!!! lol I think he will change his mind when he realises how much hard work they can be!! Remind me to stay on your good side then or if I see steam coming out of your ears then I'll take myself to the naughty spot!!

I have the same question!hahaha I am always lazy during Mondays! It’s like the first day of the week, and instead of feeling rested, I feel like not going to the office for work. Aside from the lazy feeling, Monday is always busy that’s why I hate Mondays, whenever I go to banks and offices, everyone is so busy, I not set my bank schedules to another date, actually..hahaha I go to the bank on Wednesdays or Thursdays, there are fewer people during those days.hehehe arghhh Monday blues!hehehe

Hi Gemini, reminds me of the Boomtown Rats song I Don't Like Mondays, but please don't go shooting anyone. I am usually okay with Mondays as I am at work so my childminder has to deal with the Monday squabbles LOL. but even before I worked a Monday I was ok with it. Fridays is the day as that is usually when I am feeling exhausted after a hectic week and have invites to go out but half of the time I am that tired I don't bother and then come Saturday morning wish I had gone. I don't actually get the quabbles like you do as my younger son is like an only child because of the age difference between him and my girls but I do feel for you as I did have all this to contend with with them when they were younger. Tuesday soon keep smiling. Huggles Ellie :D

Monday's not such a bad day! It's the end of a nice weekend, but it's not bad. In fact, I had a great Monday! My dream job finally became real. Then my friends treated me to lunch and dinner and movie. And it was all a coincidence. I got free lunch because one friend who works for the same company wanted to celebrate my new job. I got free dinner because another friend was celebrating her birthday. Then the free movie was because another friend had free tickets. Isn't that great! Maybe your Monday next week will be much better. :D

Well the only reason people hate mondays is solemnly because its the begining of a loong week and there is not much to be expected but lots of work until you ffinally breaking free. So everyone kind of has bad days of mondays because they hate it. I jusst remembered today is monday, CraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAPPPP!!!!!

Well, for me most of the time Monday's are usually one of my better days as it is my day off from work. For me, my bad days are usually Saturday which is my Friday at work. That always seems to be the day for me if anything can go wrong it does. All I can say for you, is keep your Chin up and remember this too shall pass. If you are not feeling any better maybe there is something you could do to help make it better. Maybe for you, it could be a mindset you need to consider finding a way to change. All I can say, is hope things get better for you, and wishing you the best.

I don't have any kids, but I'd have to agree with you about Monday's being really bad days of the week. Today was just a really bad day for me. I tried to eat lunch but the fire alarm went off the in the building so all of our food got dumped while we waited outside for the alarm to stop before we could go back in. So, then we finally got to eat but it made my partner late for class. I had to complete some test questions, got to class late and then had to take a test. It's just been a really long, annoying day.

I do not hate Monday, instead I wait for Monday. Monday is always the new beginning of a week. It brings itself something new. Saturday and Sunday remain off days for me, therefore, when I get up Monday morning, I wake up with the expectations of experiencing something new in the coming week. If Monday does not come up, how will the entire week will start..........LOL! It is, therefore, Monday is the most important day to my mind.

Hello, Gemini_Rose. People use to hate Monday because it is the beggining of all the stress... The beggining of their work routine, where they will all become nervous and their bosses will yell at them. However, for me it is not like that. Monday is great: I can go to school and meet all of my friends. Okay, I don't like waking up soon, but at least I won't be staying home the whole day. I'm glad that I can go out and meet people who will be there to talk to me and all. Now, if the kids are overtired, you can't just run. You cannot give up, you must make them realize that YOU control them. Don't let them control you. Don't get beaten by them, otherwise you'll have problems in the future. Be stricter, if you have to. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I dont have kids at home any more rose, but for a long while I hated mondays with a vengeance,it seemed as tho if anything was going to go wrong then it would be on a monday morning, and monday after monday, there was a phone call or someone telling me that something had happened, well I got a little bit paranoid over mondays.Still not my favourite day of the week by any means, but lately they have been relatively trouble free, there ive said it now,but I do know where you are coming from, but buck up girl, its tuesday tomorrow.

I don't have any kids yet but i know i feel that way on mondays!! I usually feel so tired that getting out of bed is a major effort and the rest of the day usually continues on a downward spiral! Have been struggling to stay awake in lectures all day and am in a grumpy mood now, i usually have an early night on a monday!! hehe xx

Lectures, that sounds like fun, not. I think I would be asleep behind my books!

hello gemini_rose, Ya that is indeed true. I TOTALLY agree that Mondays are miserable-but someone once told me that if I continued to hate Mondays, I would end up hating 1/7th of my life...and if I lived to be 70, that is 10 miserable years! So, instead...I try to find a way to make the day kind of bearable... hope that this works for you. have a good day. and keep posting even when the days are Mondays!

Hi gemini_rose! I can't relate with you on the kids part yet cos I don't have kids but I totally agree with you about Mondays although it's not really miserable or horrible for me, I just feel lazy and down but not really miserable. I don't know, maybe because it's the start of the week and the the rest of the days would pass by and before we know it, it's Monday again?

I don't have any kids yet and luckily I don't have those kinds of problems yet.. but I know how does the Monday feels.. I hate Mondays, is the worst day of the week, on Sundays night I cannot sleep early so when I have to go to work at Monday morning, I have a no friends face and I don't live nothing..
23 Sep 08

No I think you are 200% wrong. For me Monday is a great day to kickstart our lifestyle in every weekstart so you need to start your early days with smile. You should point your eyeview to the nature breathtaking views after you woke up so that you will have great confidence to do anything that would occur in your daily life and it doesnt matter its a regular one or any new experience. Well start with a good deed to help others too can be a great aspiration for good days.trust me all days is a good day, the days become a bad day or dooms day because of us too have a nice day
