The one that I use now is Acer Aspire 3620, with Intel Celeron processor, 256 RAM and 40GB Hard Disk Drive. I buy it more than two years ago. If I just do the ordinary work like Ms Word etc it will not give me any problem. But when I surf the internet in the long period with a lot of download, it will give me some problem. I just receive a 'best deal' to buy a new one with Intel Core Duo, 120 HDD, 1 GB Ram and with more functions... So please give me some advice, should I buy the new one or just using this one?

if your problem is just internet downloading, you can try to upgrade your ram to at least 512mb or if your motherboard is compatible to 1gb, is better.. also you can remove other applications you don't need to free some hard disk space.. these should improve your internet problems.. i recently got a macbook with 2.4ghz intel core2duo, 2gb ram & 160 hdd and it's great.. hehehe... i also have a 3-year old acer extensa, 1.6ghz pentium m, 512mb ram, & 60gb hdd.. it is still working fine but has decided to be passed on to my parents ASAP..

well my friend let me tell you one thing if you have mobility as your priority then laptop is the must option for you but then if it is not a primary concern for you then i will suggest you to go for a desktop man. it is ruff and tough, long lasting and the up gradation is simple and cheap where as it is the opposite in laptop. the parts are also very costly and so when some part will give you problems you have to empty your pocket to get it fixed.

i would see if you can upgrade your ram (maybe to 1 gig) since all your doing is using word and surfing the web. and I would recommend go as high as you can afford, that your mother board can understand. so go to a tech guy near you.

Go for more RAM and higher CLock speed processors. And about HDD 120 to 160 GB is fine. Try to Get atleast 2GB of RAM, because more ram makes PC work much faster. Also do not ettle for lower Processor, go for Core 2 Duo more th 2.52Ghz. Lower than that, i dont think will make much diference. So keep in mind about RAM and Processor. And if you are buying a PC instead of Laptop, then also make sure you are buying latest MotherBoard like DG33 series so that if you want to upgrade you processor in future then no need to buy new PC just buy the Processor.

To upgrade RAM to 2GB in your present laptop you need to first check for its compatibility.

rather than buy a new laptop, it's likely that you are able to upgrade the ram on your present laptop. I'm assuming your using the laptop for the Internet presently? Here's a website for you to look at. It's www.crucial.com This is a memory website and it's where I purchase my memory from. They are very good. They have a free scan which scans your computer and tells you what kind of memory you have inside. The scan also tells you if you can upgrade your memory and what you can upgrade it to. For example, if you have 256 of ram you may be able to go up to 512 or even 1Gb of ram. It's better checking this out first before you start spending a lot of money on a new computer. If you are able to upgrade your memory, then I would suggest doing that as that would be a lot cheaper than purchasing a new laptop. Just buy the extra memory that you need. On most laptops, you would normally access the memory underneath the laptop. I'm not advising you to start opening up your laptop to have a look but you might know someone who's into computers who is able to help you with this. Goodluck. Andrew

You should think to yourself 'can i cope with the one that I've got?' if the answer is yes then maybe you should wait a little longer. Laptop's dont come cheap, so you need to decide whether or not you really need it before you put too much money into it!

I got a 'best deal' promotion, and I think the price is OK for me, but I still thinking. I have a week to make the decision..
