"The Child is Father to the Man."

When I was in high school, our religious teacher shared with us this thought for thinking, "The child is father to the man." Have you already encountered this statement? What do you think this statement implies?

this statement is really broad. i just read it today. never heard of it. some people think that being a "man" is having lots of women, or doing a man's work but in reality being a "man" is raising a good child. thats why when a man have a child, the child becomes the bridge or the "father" that makes the man to be completely called "man" hmmmhh do i made sense.
