I finally had a chance to spend a lengthy amount of time at my crafting table this weekend. I have several craft shows right around the corner and I really needed to start building up my inventory, and I finished several bracelets and a half dozen pairs of earrings on Saturday night. AC Moore's had a sale on polymer clay recently and I bought 5 packages. I'll probably be making some pendants/necklaces with a few packs and the remainder will be used to make holiday decorations/ornaments. It'll be time to begin knitting scarves and hats, as the weather turns colder each morning and evening and I've already pulled out my "tubs" of yarn. I have some really nice skeins I purchased last spring that I'm looking forward to turning into a scarf/hat set. So what are you working on or planning to make?

I make beaded jewelry, all glass and gemstones. My boyfriend recently discovered a guy on ebay that sells Austrailian opals and I want to start making jewelry out of them. They are quite pricey but worth every penny. I have bought two so far that I got a great deal on and I have been thinking about how to use them because I want them to be beautiful.

I love finding bargains on eBay and it seems like one of my main componenets for some of my jewelry is beginning to lower in price lately (yay, it was too expensive for me to buy for the last 6 months) I've never tried Australian opals, yet and I would love to see a picture of your creations when you are done...please post an image here!! Sometimes when you find something that is so beautiful, it really doesn't matter if it's expensive... you just have to have it and create with it! I know the feeling and I guess that's just part of what we do as artists...I know sometimes those creative juices get all blocked up until I turn that idea in my head into a finished piece! Thanks for your response and best of luck with your jewelry making!!

Thanks so much for such a great response I appreciate it. Also love that you referred to us as artist. Not many people understand how I can consider myself an artist when I don't paint or make music or something. When I get the chance I'll post some pics of my work. (LOL remind me though, life's so crazy I'm bound to forget) Charging my camera tonight so as long as I remember I will post some of my work. I haven't used my opals yet but I have some other pieces I would love to show off a little bit. Thanks again for being so nice!

Beautiful bracelet, I love the colors. lately I've been working on orders for school hair bows and baby bows. Next I will be working on making headbands and dog tags for the kids in the church choir. Business has been very slow for me lately.

Thank you! I know what you mean about business being slow. After a busy summer, business has grinded to a near halt. Hopefully the fall/holiday season's won't be badly affected by the economy. Hopefully you will find yourself as busy as you want to be for the remainder of the year. Please post a picture of your finished creations for us to see! Thanks for your response!

I took some time off for crafting to look for a regular job, other ways of making money. But, I got a log cabin lap quilt simmering and some others percolating. Like you, as it gets cooler, it's fun to work on quilts.

Jobs tend to diminish my urge to create. I wake up in the morning and often think "I'm going to make this today" and as the days wears on I think about new projects. But by the time I get home from work, get dinner for the family going, I'm pretty much wiped-out and so is the urge to create. As it gets cooler, my sons begin staying in the house, so I don't need to check on them while they are outside and can concentrate a bit more on creating new jewelry. Plus, I just can't motivate myself to knit scarves while it's 80 degrees outside , but something about that first cold morning gets the knitting juices flowing. Please post a picture of your quilts when they're done. I'd love to see them! Thanks for responding!

Congrats on your Etsy sales!! After a fairly busy summer, Etsy has slowed down this month. But it is giving me time to get my Etsy inventory back to the number I like to have for sale in my shop. I also have several Fall/holiday shows coming up, so I'm also able to start building up my show inventory too! Isn't it a wonderful feeling to make something with your own hands and find it has a "commercial" value? I get a deep sense of satisfaction when I create something and to have someone offer me money for my creation is the "icing on the cake" Thanks for your response and I hope you continue to have commercial success!!

I'm still working on a couple of afghans, as I'm sure you've seen. I've got a couple made already that I want to give to patients at the VA - one is a lapghan that would be suitable for someone in a wheelchair, and another is big enough to cover a twin sized bed. I'm hopeful that I can find someone that would like to buy the others that I'm working on.

Yes, I have seen and they look like they are going to be beautiful! I can't imagine that you'll have trouble selling the creations that you don't donate. And a standing ovation to you for giving to those less fortunate !!! Keep us posted with your afghans, they truely are beauties! Thanks for responding!

I'm not at all crafty, so I envy you..lol. I wished I could make things, and have a hobby like that to keep me busy, but I don't. I hope you have a good turnout at your next craftshow...have a good day

You never know when the crafty-bug may bite! My hubby isn't crafty either, or so he says (well he can barely draw stick figures...lol) but he's working on creating a holiday piece for my Etsy shop. He's been hoarded a few pieces of sea glass and says he's one piece away from it being ready. After seeing him draw, I'm a bit scared, but I'll be putting the piece into my Etsy shop when it's finished. You just never know when your creative talent might appear...give it a shot sometime, you may be pleasantly surprised with the finished piece! Thanks for your response!

Well, I am writing a lot recently, and I am just working on my writing recently. I am also working on getting my house cleaned before I go back to classes. I have so much that I have to do before college starts back up again.

Good for you! Crafting has taken me away from my writing and myLot is pretty much the extent of my recent "writing". Good Luck with your writing and with college! Thanks for responding!

I like handmade jewellery, it is really nice and so unique too. At the moment I am knitting a baby blanket, I am about 12 rows off completion and it will be done. I am really excited and cannot wait to see what it looks like off the needle. My next project is a nice fluffy scarf!

I hope we get to see an image of the baby blanket when it's complete! I'm the smae way about getting excited to see what my knitting looks like once the needles are put away and I can spread everything out. Of course the sense of accomplishment when an item is finished is also I great feeling. Thanks for your response!

your bracelet is beautiful! sounds like you are very crafty! i am very creative, but do not really have the time to do anything right now. i used to do scrapbooking alot years ago when i was with my ex-boyfriend- we traveled alot and i made some really nice ones. i really enjoy doing it but it does take alot of time and can get expensive. i would really love to learn how to knit or crochet soon. i heard that it is hard but i would love to be able to make blankets and things as gifts. i do have a couple of small things in mind for christmas, like homemade bookmarks. we will see how much time i have. :) good luck with your projects!

Thank you! I find I'm able to "sneak" in some knitting during the work day. I'll knit for about 15 minutes in the afternoon on break and I often spend at least 30 minutes of my lunch hour knitting while chatting with the girls (I get a lot of custom orders around the holidays this way) Making jewlery keeps me pretty busy, especially around the holidays and I often spend my TV time knitting while I watch my favorite shows. I also make bookmarks for family members as stocking stuffers for the readers in the family. I used to read often, but now I make jewelry... Thanks for your response!

Right now I am making a rag quilt to sell on Ebay. I made 2 of these for my twins before they were born, and it was amazing the response I got from them. Everyone kept saying they were so neat & different looking. They're soft & super easy to make. I love them!

I hope we get to see a picture when your done. I would love to have time to make a quilt, but between working and my jewelry-making, there just isn't enough time during the day. Please post a picture when you're finished...I'd love to see it!! Thanks for your response!

I am working on and studying how to make money online. I am a newbie in the internet stuff. I am learning how to develop blogs that will make money in the future. Lots of things to learn from the expert...

There is much to learn and hopefully the expert teaches you what to stay clear of and which opportunities are the best! Most of my online business is about promotion and a little friendly networking, not unlike most internet money-making programs. Like most businesses, I need to drive customers to my shop and hope they see something of value that they like. On Etsy however, there are so many shops trying to get those same customers to their shops and sometimes I make a sale that day, many times I don't. But sometimes the person ends up coming back another day to make a purchase, so it's all about making a positive impression. I also have a blog that connects my shop with others. Some of my local followers don't like to buy on the net, but do read my blog and I can keep in touch with them by letting them know what shows I will be doing, or showing them new items both in my shop and regular show inventory. Just another way of promoting myself. Thanks for your response and good luck making money online!
